We crossed the channel on Eurotunnel this morning. Easy 20 minute drive from where we overnighted at Smeeth, little traffic.

When we exited M20 at J11A there was a line of cars and some motorhomes queuing but moving slowly. Took about 20 minutes before we’d checked in. Then an hour’s wait before boarding. All v pleasant and only question was whether gas had been turned off, No other checks for food, Covid etc.

Now parked at lovely spot at Laon off the A26. Van next to us is Scots but occupants not seen yet.

Do you mind if I ask where you stayed in Smeeth?

I really hope it's okay on Saturday but I'm not holding out too much hope.

Crossing Monday but we’ll be going uphill so assume to Blighty will be OK ? In any case will be packing enough marmalade sandwiches to keep is going in the event of any delays, failing that we can feed them to the French farmers…

Just arrived in St Omer (in car this trip)after crossing by tunnel There were no queues on route to tunnel from midlands but M25 was slow for 12 miles . Arrived early for booked train ( didn’t want to be late and get bumped to later train) so no hold ups -we were 2 hrs early 🤬-place was MOBBED in Folkestone did not get offered earlier crossing sadly . But all running well with respect to the crossing.

Sorry been travelling all day. We stay at The Doghouse, a pub on a trendy little estate with masses of parking. Free, no obligation to buy anything although we had a couple of drinks and two chicken curries. We knew the restaurant is closed on Tuesday but James does offer a few meals.

Great stuff, looks great. Will be visiting next week. Thank you. (y)

We stayed at The Doghouse in June and on our way back from France ( our first European trip, went like a dream👌) Duncan and Claire are great hosts and the food and pub are perfect. Nice easy 15 - 20 mins from tunnel.

We left Laon yesterday morning, would of been nice to meet another funster 👍met Phill and Mena in the Pelopenese 😎

Yes, it would have been nice to have met you. Where are you now? We’re in the heart of Burgundy.

Oh! Never mind, the next trip will come around soon enough. We needed to wait until late July before we could return to France having been here in April.
