Can anyone suggest a place to overnight near the terminal to board a train early next morning?
We normally book a late crossing but i have been able to "engineer" an extra day and a half off so we now want to travel to Folkestone on the afternoon of the 31st August. Our train his booked for 07.40 on the 1st September. Would like somewhere as near as possible. Don't fancy the new services Stop24 just off junction 11.
Many thanks in anticipation

We stopped at Stop24 for a few hours on our way to tunnel, we were forced to lay up as getting messages not to turn up before booking time as carpark at tunnel full and queuing back to Motorway. It costs £20 overnight and I wouldn't like it, 2 hours was bad enough.
Someone on UK Camping reports paying £16 without EHU at The Drum Inn, it looks a much better place to stay.

Just for info Canterbury park and ride now time their "days" from midnight, so if you stay overnight e.g. arriving at 8pm, you will be charged £3 for the first day from 8pm - midnight, then another £3 for midnight - when you leave (before midnight on the second "day").

It's £1 up to midnight if you arrive after 4pm, according to previous posts on here, and the Canterbury web site.

Hi. I stayed there last night and was charged £6 from 5pm to 8am. I queried it and was told about the "midnight" charges.

Always try to arrange to stop on French side, a lot more choice. But if not we use Canterbury; as far as I can remember when we stopped on our way out last month we only paid £4, that was from 6.00pm to 8.00 am.

Farthing Common is the one I would choose and it is only a short distance from the M20 and the junction for the tunnel. However as I live 6 miles from the tunnel I stay at home, so cannot comment on your situation.

We have used Farthing Common also, although we normally cross in the afternoon these days with a 'Frequent Traveller' account.

I'm only going by what others say they have been charged and what the web site says - - so perhaps they have recently changed the pricing and not updated the web site.

Drop down into Hythe, parking both sides of the canal, or ask the station master at the light railway, providing you are away by 08;30am normally ok . failing that Sainsbury at Hythe on military road is safe just inform manager/security. 7 min to tunnel

An evening crossing to France is usually much cheaper than a morning one.
Why not change the booking, drive straight to the tunnel and stop at Cite Europe overnight.
No charges, fresh croissants from Carrefour in the morning then stock up on beer, wine and fuel before continuing the journey.

Richard.
