Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Eurotunnel has just put the Frequent Traveller accounts back on sale. (y)

<Broken link removed>

I just tried to create a new Frequent Traveller Wallet but the necessary 'button' isn't showing in My Account.

Perhaps EuroTunnel isn't ready for new customers.

I'd ask them for help if they didn't have a chargeable contact number. It so annoys me when firms put up barriers to doing business with them. 😡

Interesting, how restrictive is the off peak ticketing? How far in advance do you need to 'book'? and is a motorhome same price as a car?

Mickey.

just seen the t's and c's and would not want to travel before 6am or after 4pm, has anyone ever had a problem with paying the upgrade to travel at 'peak' times?

During normal times it is not an issue unless you need to go at a specific time. You can book anytime but needs to be 24hr before. £12 excess for motorhome which is payable at time of booking rather than at beginning so you can take the car over if that suits.

OK I see you do. Yes it is not a problem if you want to pay for a specific time. Most folk park up in Calais or its surrounds, before or afer to not have to pay.

Nope once you make a booking you would pay the minimum £12 per crossing for a Motorhome and if you change back to a car booking at anypoint the £12 would be refunded, the same principle works for Peak surcharges are you chop and change your bookings.

We often book after 4pm as usually leave after School finishes and book an early morning crossing back which maximises time away so off-peak suits.

We generally map out the whole year for the bookings and make rough estimates of when we want to travel and books those as the off peak is not restrictive but they do have restraints on how much frequent traveller availability is actually available which can be an issue usually only around the first few days and last few days of every school holiday.

For example July we would book as early as possible when the allocation is available and if the exact date and crossing is not available book the closest and monitor on a regular basis keep changing until you get exactly the crossing you want as it changes constantly.

We have always done the same.
Early evening going out and mid morning coming home so it suits us perfect.

I think those are the off-peak times from Folkestone to Calais. They are quite different on the return from France to the UK - from memory, something like between midnight until 2pm. On the return, we normally get a morning crossing around 9am-10am. Quite civilised, with plenty of time to return to Bristol, usually by lunchtime. ;)

We've never had a problem paying the extra £20, if we want to move into a peak travel time, although only bothered with that a couple of times, because we particularly wanted to cross during the peak times.

I'm struggling to get through on the Eurotunnel phone line. If I were to purchase a wallet today, for example, would I be able to use a ticket next week?

What is the process of booking the train, is it on the phone or over the internet?

I'm a bit concerned that if I can't get through to the phone line now I won't be able to sort the tickets out. If it is really necessary to map the journeys out for the whole year in advance then this may not work out for me.

Thanks for your help.

We've not normally mapped out journeys too far in advance. And as has been said, they can be changed at no cost as often as required, up until 24 hours beforehand and subject to availability.

Crossings can be booked and changed online or by phone.

Its much easier to do online you create an account and open a wallet by purchasing a minimum of 10 crossings for £480, once you have those you can book from immediately. I checked online and there is availability every day next week mostly in the afternoons though from Wednesday onwards mid-mornings also.

You dont need to map out the whole year that is just what worked for us as we generally travel during school holidays.

Just caught up on the great news.Another plus for being a member of Motorhome fun. They very nearly lost a customer to P&O so glad they have resumed and wife is delighted she doesn't have to suffer the ferry and the associated risks. (y)
