looking at taking HM to France for first time later this year but looking online do not see option for MH jus various vans or a camper van, what do others book vehicle under as its 8.5m with bikes and 2.7m over mirrors.

Yep, crossed this year as "camper van" Very impressed and so easy will definitely don't it again

You'll be put in the large single deck carriages with other camper vans and coaches and people with roof racks who think they are too tall to go in the twin deck carriages with all those normal cars....

NB,

As part of the above caution by Minx, one of the most important is that you cannot buy a journey that starts in France. In other words, you can't buy two single tickets thinking that you want the flexibility of returning when you want. You have to buy a Return ticket or just a single going out.

:):)We are doing this for the first time at the end of August and have included the travel insurance, after advice from other forum members. No need to declare medical conditions, just need to identify your own doctor does not advise against travel. Other half is delighted, as hates all the conversations with Insurance companies, appears to also be cheaper for us.

If you use the tunnel book a return ticket. This year we went one way to Santander with Brittany ferries and came back via the tunnel some weeks later. We hadn't booked a return before we set off and got stung with a stupid price. In future we'll plan a return date.

Thanks again for the input re Tesco vouchers will be booking a return as only have 2 weeks holiday and need to get from North Scotland to the tunnel first !!! So won't have as long in Frznce as we would like so will be a test run for later on when I retire
