How recently do you need? Vet in Bruges has issued PPs to Funsters in December, and others have appointments booked with her in the next couple of months. See this thread:

Thanks
Any further vet info
Appreciated

Has anyone been to a vet in Belgium and had a passport issued then used it on the way back to UK
Friends got a passport issued today
But the vet recommended they used the AHC on the way back to uk
This means they won't know if the passport is valid till the next trip

If the Belgium vet gave a rabies jab when issuing the PP, which would be the first in the passport, then they may be thinking it will be questioned due to there not being 21 days between it and returning to UK hence officially they'd need to show the AHC to prove that it wasn't the first. We used Bella's new PP when we came back at around 17 days after issue so although the 21 days could have been questioned, they didn't do so nor ask to see the AHC.

What I would do though is get the worming info put on the PP and the AHC just in case and use the PP so that it is checked for accuracy, if there is an issue with it they would tell you, they may still want to see the AHC too of course but purely for the rabies jab.

Thanks Minxy for the very clear explanation
On that basis we will go to the same vet as our friends did
Thanks again

Yes,Mme Jaucot issued us a new passport, transferred the rabies vaccination details from our old passport so we used it to return to UK 👍

Same as us, had my 2 Jacks passports done by Christine a few years back and I used it coming back to the UK as wanted to try it to make sure.
Probably been over about 6 times now with no issues.
On our last return we used a vet in Brugge for the worming treatment as we were not going near Mons and they were good and cheaper Charlie my boy Jack didn’t even growl at the vet this time😁😁

Thanks all think we are sorted booked in next week

Got our pooch a:
New European Pet Passport (with our home address in the UK)
3 Year Rabies Vaccine (She transferred details of his British rabies details into the new Passport as well)
Worming tablet
His British AHC stamped for the return (Because the rabies injection she gave was less than 3 weeks before our return
for 67 euro's
The vet spoke good English
However when my wife rang to book the appointment we had to wait a bit whilst another lady came to the phone who spoke English

We went to the Vets in Arlon Belgium
Dr Coupez/ Dr Lambot
Route de Bastogne
310 - 6700 Arlon

We parked overnight in the aire behind the fire station (free electric hook up and toilet dump Water tap off for winter)
Vets is a 3 minute drive away .
We followed our sat Nav
However the vets is down a dead end street the other side of a dual carriageway.
Entrance to the dead end is from the first roundabout you come to.
Our sat nav took us past this and then got its knickers in a twist trying to direct us into making a U turn where no existed.

Easy Parking near the vets even for a biggish motorhome

All in all very easy

We used Christine Jacoub as many others has. Very pleasant lady. Obviously loves dogs.
From what she charges I think she loves the money more!

Will I be able to get a pet passport If I have a friends address I can use in France?

Not from the majority of recent posts as it will need to be registered on the france micro chip data base and in their name. Lots of new requirements according to the vets in france that funsters have tried recently. Look fir the pet passport threads and possibly get your friends to speak to their local vets see what they say.

So you reckon I can’t say I am x and live here? I have to use their name?

You can try, do a search you will see what others have done

Can't help but think that the various vets are just making it up as they go along. Where are all these 'new requirements' to be found? Most will probably point you to the garbled 'Brexit statement' on the I-cad website, but I-cad themselves have stated that you do not need to register with them unless you are in France for more than 3 months. Unless you know of an accommodating French vet, I would suggest getting a Pet Passport in Belgium, Germany, Spain or Portugal instead. They seem to be less prone to Imaginary New Requirements syndrome.

Well Maz, you've never accepted there can be regulation at a national level affecting French vets in ways that don't affect the Belgians or the Irish, for example. I think its obvious that it isn't just vets making it up as they go along. But we've been over this so many times.

I'd be more inclined to believe that if we were shown exactly what these 'new requirements' are meant to be from an authoritative source. No-one ever does this. It's always 'my vet says' ....... but unfortunately there have been so many wrong things said by vets (both in the EU and the UK) that I can not just take them at face value.

I think it's a case of some vets making it up as they go along, some are doing what they believe the regs say they should (whatever they are) but as Maz says no-one has been able to show categorical evidence that there is any EU wide legislation to back-up these supposed regs, not even by the 'fussy' French vets. I'm sure if there was a definite EU rule about it that no-one would dare to go against it for risk of being struck off (or the vet equivalent!),

I'm sure there isn't a "definite EU rule" or as you say no vet in any EU country would be providing PPs for UK dogs. I'm pretty sure there is a French rule putting conditions on it which makes it difficult. And the EU can't strike any vet off. That is all under control of the individual countries.

Yup, the French rules are IMV vindictive with no good reason for vets making it difficult to get a PP especially since their own requirement for the registration scheme isn't necessary unless a dog is going to be in country for over 3 months which most won't be.

Yes I know, but the country can IF they are going against their regs but they aren't in the case of France, they are just being awkward ...

Don’t ask me about vet regulations, I always cock it up.

Asked Abbeywell for the wrong date for pickup this holiday and had to pay again so they did an AHC on the day.

Then found the most expensive vet in France for worming on the way home. €103 for 2 dogs. £300 it’s cost me to bring them this time.

I have wrote to my MP, she told me what fantastic opportunities we have. I wish they would sort this one……

I also wish I wasn’t such an idiot. 🙄

So are they actually 'rules' or just misinterpretations (wilful or otherwise)? The so-called rules seem to be contradictory.

You want to have a go at the Mission Impossible task of trying to get to the derrière of it? 😄

Not really! My advice to people is to choose another country to get a Pet Passport.
