For years I've just used the R.A.C. annual cover but just wondered if there is anything better out there. What does everyone else use?

Like yourself , I use RAC only needed once while away in France superb service from RAC not so the little garage man who came to the call out , but he did suggest the local Peugeot garage , RAC contacted garage and interpreted ,organised repair & kept me informed at every stage( about 15 phone calls to me).
