Anyone else find it a pain in the bum trying to book the tunnel, after going through the whole booking with insurance and the dog around £800
I then go to pay using wanting to use Tesco vouchers for our part of the fair £290 then loose all of the information I have put in🤬🤬 what an absolutely crap site.
I have done this five times now🤯 I think I will try again in the morning as I am close to saying 🤬🤬 🤣

Presumably you have the code from Tesco? Which bit is causing the problem? does it go wrong after you put in the code and press apply?

I get to that part but have no code so then click on the Tesco link and lose all of the booking as the tunnel site goes back to the beginning🤯 I did this successfully a year ago but can’t seem to get past this point this year😢

Ok. You need to do the tesco side first to get a code. You need to go to the clubcard site and login then you need to find the 'spend vouchers' area. When you are in the 'spend vouchers' go to travel>transport> then click on the eurotunnel picture. On the right you can use the + or - to add on how much you want to spend. Then press "Add to basket" on the next page check everything is ok and hit 'checkout'. On the next page you'll need to select the vouchers you want to use. Then click the 'review order' button. On the next page click 'confirm order'
You'll get 2 emails, the first will confirm your order and the scond should contain the code. It may take a few minutes to come through and its not always clear in the email where the code is. I say you normally get 2 emails but if you only get one check it to see if the code is there. It is a bit complicated, but worth it in the end.

I’ll give that a try in the morning as it’s Denise’s card in fact they are both hers as I don’t get involved with cards🤣 that’s probably why I am struggling🤣 Thank you for the detailed instruction, I will post my outcome 🤞🏽

You probably know this already but the price escalates if you come out and go in again without clearing your cookies down.
Interesting point. I'm aware that the prices increase as more tickets (dynamic pricing) are sold but I'm not sure about the cookies thing. Can't help but to clear your cookies though!

I booked a couple of weeks ago for Rastwr hols. First time I went in was £405 plus dog. Quite expensive I thought. Left overnight then next day price was up about 50%. Almost panicked then cleared history and tried again. Went back to £405. Not sure of logic of why companies do that - surely it puts people off travelling.

Or just look on one laptop/pc/IPad and then use another when you get a price you like!

We always get problems, trying the online way, well I say we but Julie does it, but always end up ringing Eurotunnel, and booking on there, but you have to know which train you are booking and your Tesco voucher ready, then it's quite simple, they really are good on the phone.

I did exactly this last week for the first time using the Eurotunnel website and Tesco vouchers and found a decent price.
Then I had to work out how to get the Tesco voucher code and go back in to find the tunnel price had gone up about 20 quid, I never thought about going on a different computer or ipad. 😟

I ended up paying £82 though and using £75 in vouchers so happy 👍

Why are you using their insurance and recovery? Don't you have any already? It's got to be the most expensive way to get them, much better to have your own policies.

It’s £290 for the van £44 for the dog and £459 for insurance and recovery is that not normal ?
I have recovery with RAC that covers all of Europe for my 7.5 ton van and it’s less than the £459.
This will get us and the van back to the UK.
Revolut card gives me my personal insurance for free.

Do you mind me asking as I have Revolut, what do you mean “personal insurance for free”

What does this entail exactly as I'm interested to know this, is it travel insurance or something?

cheers Al

Breakdown from other places won't be more than£150
We have RAC arrival we can add European recovery but being 65 with a couple of small health issues travel insurance is well over £300 from Barclays CCC and a few others.

If by recovery you mean European Breakdown you could buy that much cheaper separately. A quick Google brings up £35 for a single trip or £90 for annual cover with https://www.eurobreakdown.com/

...and what insurance? Surely your vehicle is insured anyway.

Personally I use Irish Ferries for Dover to Calais. Usually around £200 for a 7.5 meter van return.

The ops van is over 8m so this cover is no good still a good price tho 👍🏻 the other part of the insurance is health cover.

Yes if you upgrade your account from the basic for when you are away you get very similar cover to a normal holiday insurance.
Once you return home just go back to the basic cover.
