Any Funsters advise please? Arriving Calais about midday. Suggestions please on first night stop and onward sites recommended to start of the Romantic Road? Any tips much appreciated!

looks like germany according to google

Thanks gozomike I stand corrected

Bruges is very well worth a day visit and has a nice Stelplatz near the Marina close to the town centre. Our second night stop was at Aachen which is another fabulous town just inside Germany. We spent a week going down the Mosel river and at Trier we then cut across to the top of the Romantic road and spent a week tootling down to Fussen. Great trip and have fun!

We came back via Lake Constance, up through France, Luxembourg and Belgium.

Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs! Never heard of the Romantic Road.
I was equally confused about the question in the OP until I googled it. What a great trip that would make.

best of luck with your bypass,
told my wife it was the doctors order, she said I'd better get the doctor to give me a prescription then pop down to the chemists !!!

I had 3 stents put in one heart artery June last year. Artery was 95% closed:( I feel so much better, don't get winded on hills now. Was not very pleasent though....and knocked my pretty poor kidney function for six, but a month in Italy helped!:)

I thought this was going to be about the under the sea club, or miles lower as it's known

The Castle Route & Romantic Route were featured in a 'Greatest Motorcycle Rides' program which I happened to watch a few weeks ago. It looks a nice area to visit and I hope to give parts of it a try.

Some of my German friends claim Bavaria is not part of Germany:LOL:

Done the RR many times years ago on our motorcycle trips, have not done it in a M/H for a while, I feel a revisit coming on!

Just posted my plans and intents to do the RR, on another thread "First trip to Germany"

We are going in May just booked the tunnel ! First trip abroad too (in motorhome) !

We did it last year. Well worth the journey, though we did it in reverse - Fussen - slight detour to Oberamaggau - then north, Romantique Strasse . Headed towards Heidelberg and then up to Trier. Various stops as we travelled back north towards Calais.

I had never heard of this up until this post, so thank you for posting - with everyone's comments and suggestions, I'm going to add it to my list (with the exception of wanting a stem fitting that is)

never heard of this either but looking at the info available we will likely stop at a few of them after we visit Nuremburg on our route back to Dunkirk. !!
Thanks Tonka for the info !!

I love Germany, where else do you have to have a beer with your breakfast in order not to stand out as a foreigner?

If you are up for it drive across belgium and stop at top of Luxembourg (Troisvierges) - it's then an eay drive to Trier - we then stopped at an ACSI site just outside????

Di you want to 'crack on' for a few hours or have a stay near calais (15 minutes) in a village with a nice couple of restaurants to choose from ?
