Don't think our Goverment care less. Its The EU who won't be happy unless you comply. Its their regs. BUSBY.

I think you will find it is an international requirment for 'Foreign' vehicles to carry a country of origin identifier, hence the EU style number plates with - in the EU. We have (F) fitted on our van in preparation for visting the UK, at sometime in the future.

GB plates were required long before the existence of the EU.
Agree,,,think they all vehicles from any country travelling into another country have needed a Country Identification Plate since the 30s well before the EU...but isnt it an EU requirement for member states to have that i.d. displayed on the number plate.. BUSBY.

No idea - but if so it's a better idea than a separate plate.

The RAC used to have a metal GB plate with the 'club' badge on it that had to be screwed to your metal bumper. Like the 'old' AA and RAC car badges a distant memory. Anybody remember when the RAC and AA Patrols used motor -cycles with side - cars and used to salute you?

We were flying back from the south of France ( light aircraft ) & was driven down by low cloud SO landed at the nearest airport , they couldnā€˜t speak much English but treated us well enough BUT Once they realised we were Scottish they treated us like family , their English got so much better, they fed us , then took us a tour of their town & yes one of them did mention the old alliance šŸ˜

We have actually noticed a difference all over the world on our travels, mention you are from the Scottish Highlands and attitudes change, people get so much friendlier.

(And I'm English northerner, but wife is Inverness lassie)
