Hoping we will get this sorted on Monday at a Belgian vet.

If we do, does the dog still need a worming tablet before going back into the UK or once we have the passport that’s it?

Thanks

What about on leaving the UK it’s EU passport - anything required there?

Just the microchip check as you exit the UK. That was new for me as we hadn’t been back in a few years but if you got in them you’ll certainly be able to get out👌

Which vet are you going to use please? We are booked with Christine Jaucot on Sat 10/09.

I intend to use my uk address. Haven’t heard any problems in doing so. We are currently fostering a Cypriot dog and was told by Euro tunnel we needed to add our address to her passport. Northernraider if you don’t mind saying, what address do you have for your eu rescued dogs?

All mine have my UK address , 2 Spanish and one Greek passports.

The French vet we used for worming said you need a french residency for a eu passport so wouldn’t do one for us. Others might. As our dog is elderly we will just use ahc if we take him abroad again.

Ceejayt I would be very interested in your thoughts on the vets in question, do they speak English for us none languages speaking peeps, also how well you get on as we planning a trip but the French resistance to Eu passports has changed plans.

That seems to be the position of all French vets now. Several other countries, such as Spain, Ireland and Belgium plus others, don't have this restriction.

Some but thankfully not all. I keep a list of French vets that are known to have recently issued Pet Passports to Brits. Any subscribing Funster who needs a copy, just send me a PM.

What addresses are being given , do you know, to these French vets? And how are they dealing with I- cad registration - if at all?

As far as I know, most of them were happy with UK addresses and no need for I-cad registration. One (#9) was happy with any French address. The list of vets has been compiled from posts on Facebook from Brits who have actually obtained Pet Passports, so the amount of information on each one varies. The one at #14 specifically mentioned using a UK address, and PP and wormer together cost 38€. The list is really just meant to be a starting point for people to contact the vets themselves.

Thanks- just wanting starting points fir conversations with vet(s)
I wasn’t well enough informed to counter points with previous vet - my feeling is he was so unsure if I’d been able to say ( for example) some vets use Uk address he might have managed it!

A useful item to show the vet might be this from the website of the French Consulate in London:

Great experience!

Easy parking even for a 9m motorhome, small Moho right outside, larger vehicle there is pull off immediately past.

VERY nice vet, clearly loves dogs, shocked our AHC and then filled out the passport - 50 euros all done.

NB She really wants cash

NNB as well as the AHC she asks for the date of registration of the dogs microchip as she says it can sometimes be checked at Calais.

In and out in 15 minutes

The date of implantation of the microchip is needed if you are having rabies vaccination details transferred from an existing document. If you are having a rabies booster given at the same time as the Pet Passport is issued, then the date of reading of the microchip is fine.
