Hi all,
Have a question about my engine management light comes on in 4th gear at 2500 revs and lose a bit of power. Some times in 2nd gear too.
Any ideas what it may be?
Have found a Fiat dealer near Benicalo, so will have to book it in I think.
TIA

Mine was the DPF - diesel particulates filter in the exhaust system.
I hope not because they cost a fortune (£800+) especially abroad. If it is that, hope you can get it back to the UK.

If you drive it for a bit in a lower gear you may find that the higher exhaust temperature will burn off any crap in there and return it to normal

Invest in a OBD2 reader (£10 ebay) and an app for phone / tablet..

At least It will show the problem codes. I had a similar thing and it was the DPF Sensor.. There are a few threads about those type of issues on here.. Read some really horror stories where dealers change the most expensive parts.. Mine cost £130 for part, fitting and re-generation.

A can of DPF / Fuel cleaner is worth a shot and as above, give it a blast at high revs the get things nice and hot..

If you have cruise control it can even be the brake light switch incorrectly adjusted/loose.

Can you expand on this...

Not sure if it could be related to a issue I have when using Cruise and hitting a hill.

Ours was the dpf filter at 10000 miles it was done under warranty , it was probably the previous owner being a bit steady, its now done 53000 and no problem wants a good run at high revs and that might clear it out.
You can get a cleaner that you put in the tank. (y) Bob.
