The fan heater that works off the engine in the back of the MH does not get warm. The fan is working but the pipes to and from the heater do not get warm. Has anyone an idea as to what is the problem and how to fix it. All advice is welcome.

I had one of those in an Elddis Autoking. There was a tap by the engine to switch it on and off. The idea was hot in winter and you could have it blowing cold in summer.

since 2007, 25 years tuggin before that.
There is usualy some sort of temerature contol on them, maybe the cable/rod has become disconnected?
Has it ever worked while you have had the 'van? If not then the pipes may have been disconnected because of a leak.

there is no tap.The pipes all look like new. I have only had it for 3 weeks so I don't know if it worked or not. I have just run the engine for 20 mins and the temp gauge is just registering 50 degrees

There has to be some form of tap somewhere otherwise it would be blowing hot in summer. Other than that its air locked and you will have to bleed it through.

It should be nearer 90c when fully warm so suspect a faulty thermostat, while they do that back flush cooling system including both heater matrix, don't forget good quality antifreeze when finished,

I think the Ecovip is based on the Iveco? If this is the case be aware that the Iveco is grossly overcooled! 50 C after 20 mins running sounds about right from my experience with our Iveco. Try replacing the thermostat and flushing the cooling system then refill with fresh anti freeze mixture. There may be an air lock in the pipework to the rear heater too so drain flush refill may well cure that.

Hi Jim and Lou, Hope you managed to get this fixed?

Where abouts is your dashboard switch to activate the blower for the underseat radiator? I have 2 switches on my dashboard that might be hopefuls but neither starts the fan.

Regards,
Lee.

Its possible the thermostat has been removed so it never gets warm:
run the engine for 20 mins & feel the pipes while it gets warm there should be a temperature difference around the radiator before the thermostat opens if none after 30 mins then no stat.

Air lock in pipes to heater matrix - pipes may feel cold when engine is hot

Blocked Heater matrix: no water passing through it feel the pipes either side are they getting warm/hot

Heater matrix has been bypassed completely
