Does anyone in the on here know on a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 316 2.2ltr 163 BHP based motorhome if it’s necessary to reprogram the vehicle after a engine battery change or can I just take the old battery out and drop the new one in? Thanks in advance

If you have a smart alternator then yes it should have the battery monitor recoded as it will have a battery monitor module.
You can tell if it has a battery monitor module as that will be small module attached to the -ve battery connection with a little separate wiring loom attached.
Re-coding is necessary to inform the module that the battery has been changed and use the correct charge regime for a changed battery even if it is the same as the previous one.
