Well I hope anyone doesn't need one because according to Desira Fiat in Diss they are around £580 + VAT!!!! o_O
If you want a refurbished one it's around the £380 + VAT!! o_O
How the hell can they justify that??

I then called Camper UK in Lincoln. They are a Fiat commercial dealer as well as a motorhome dealer. Spoke to Carl in the parts department. Gave him my chassis number............. NOPE!
No longer made by Fiat. NOT AVAILABLE!?!?!? WHAT?

Now, my Elegance is only 10 years old, it is a Fiat Ducato base vehicle, are they seriously telling me that ALL Ducato vans are useless if their front callipers pack up?

Are they available? According to Desira in Diss they are at an astronomical cost but according to a different Fiat dealer they are no longer made?
I eagerly await Carl's return phone call (tomorrow now I guess after saying he'd ring back in 10 minutes, and that was at 4:30pm).

I've found one on eBay for £100 delivered. Do I take a chance it's the right one? I know it's a "pattern" one but it seems like I have no choice. I can't use my van till I get it sorted.

Anyone else had this problem lately?

Plenty of pattern parts available from on-line retailers, it's difficult to find genuine Fiat parts on-line anyway. Let us know how you get on, my Fiat is 10 years old.

You could try asking on the fiat forum , they have vans on there like ducato not just cars. Someone might know where you could get a better deal.

I was under the impression once a model is no longer made the manufacturer is under an obligation to maintain a supply of parts for 10 years.

Normally 14 years before discontinued for Fiat.
Try Autodoc or bestparts store. I can find around 14 different makes with each for mine, Ducato/Talento base using parts suppliers.

here is autodoc

Broken Link Removed be aware they are a German company that trades under each country but parts are usually supplied from Germany. Good service& delivery for me here & prices also usually cheaper than the online spanish co ; I usually use. Just had a look on spanish site & 60-70e per caliper taking a guess on your model.

Calipers that are available from various (no doubt good and bad) suppliers are not pattern parts as such - they are rebuilt original calipers. My past experience of them (for 'classic' cars) has been good. There are a number of firms who do nothing else but refurbish brake parts. Your local motor factor will obtain their recon calipers from a respectable source.

I got a recon caliper from Eurocarparts over Christmas (they had a brilliant discount offer on) only difference to the original one was that the recon one had been "chrome" plated. You also get a refund on the old caliper, sort of like a trade in so that they can refurbish it and sell it as a reconditioned unit too.
If you do use Euro, when you get to checkout, if they have no discount offers available, just Google "Eurocarparts discount code" there is nearly always someone offering one.

Desira are a joke!! Or thr Great Yarmouth one is. 12year ago had possible fuel problem with motorhome on returning from France. Desira told me needed all new fuel lines and injectors. £1600.00 plus labour plus VAT. Took it to Anglia auto’s at Barford. Found it was a throttle sensor. Cost less than £100.00 including labour and VAT.

I would replace both sides but I'm still having great trouble trying to locate any!!
Just rang a Fiat commercial dealer to see how much a set of seals and new pistons are ( seeing as you can't get a new calliper ) only to be told they aren't showing up on their system either!!

Speak with your wallet and get them elsewhere, as in an aftermarket or reconditioned version

You could try this company, http://www.brake-eng.com/ I’ve dealt with them in the past, long established firm and quality items based in Wrexham, in the unlikely event that it’s not on the shelf they will recondition your old units. They are very helpfull but you may have to buy via a local motor factor.
You can view their catalogue on line.

Just tried them, first thing he said was " do you have an account with us" to which I obviously replied "no". Then he said "you'll have to go to a motor factor then"! Not particularly helpful to me. All I wanted was to know what calliper to buy! I just keep hitting a blooming brick wall!
Thanks anyway.

If you can get the Fiat part number, you'll almost certainly find a genuine replacement on eBay.it
These guys will deliver to UK, usually within 48hrs https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/autoricambiolini?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754

Having said that, Eurocarparts appear to have both x244 and x250 calipers available.
I'd have no hesitation in buying the Pagid or Brembo equivalent.

I have no problem buying a pattern one. I've looked at the Euro car parts ones. They don't appear to be the right ones because they're for 15" wheels and the pistons are the wrong sizes. 44mm/48mm as opposed to the 46mm/52mm ones I need. I will have another look though. Ta

According to the Brake Engineering catalogue there is a choice of three front calipers available with the pistons sizes you mentioned

I rang them this morning and the conversation was very short and sweet! "Do you have an account with us?" No I replied. " then you'll have to go to a motor factors!" Oh, ok. I just need some information. " you'll have to go to a motor factors" was the reply again!

Well it took over a week just to find out EXACTLY what calliper I needed. It turns out it's a CA 2927. (y)
So, if anyone else needs one to fit a 2007 Burstner Elegance i821 that's what you need to ask for. If it's for the offside front then it's a CA 2927R.
Nearly all the ones on the common motor factor sites aren't for the uprated axle weight that the Elegance has.
It cost me about £240 to buy and get my local garage to fit. Hey ho. It's done now. I may buy a spare pair! :D2
Thanks for all your help and input. (y)
