First moho 11/2013, second 11/2014 current from 09/2019.
In my hab battery area I have one of these. It says Voltronic - do you what it is and what it does. Thanks Martin

I suggest its a shunt to measure amps from or to battery. Made by votronic and theres probably a display somewhere visible. Hows that?

A Woosh bang
it's a shunt.. a current shunt resistor or an ammeter shunt

the Voltronic measures the volt drop access it and using Ohms law , I=V/R

converts the volt drop to Amps that are going in or out of the battery

Not long enough!
Deffo a shunt. Got one in my mh.
Should be a display somewhere to show how your batteries are doing.

Looks about the same size as a shunt but it just looks like a bit of circuit board with a couple of capacitors on it and maybe an inductor (so filter?). My shunt is like a solid piece of copper, certainly no components on it.

Edit: the copper might be under it?

I can't see a data cable plugged into the socket. If there's no data cable there's probably no display.

I agree. I fitted one of these earlier in the year and the shunt (as shown) is just one part of the kit, which also included a display and a data cable.

Thank you for your help. A bit more looking at the photo and the help of Google I've worked this out. The previous owner of the van replaced the solar controller and remote display with the ones below (I guess the old one died). The voltronic bit I think is from the original solar installion and is now redundant as there is nothing connected to the data output part of the shunt. I want to replace the existing solar controller set up so it 'talks' to my EBL101 and DT201 display panel ~ I will start a new thread on that. Thanks again for your help.

Correction, my battery monitor is a Victron not a Votronic but the shunt Is very similar and has the same connections.

Last question on this topic. Should I remove this redundant 'shunt' ? Or does it have no effect on the electrical system? Thanks Martin

I think the shunt resistance is very little but the electronics might be wasting a few milliamperes. Disconnecting the red wire, which is the positive feed, should eliminate this risk. Sliding the orange tab with a fingernail should release it but you would need to be careful not to short it out. Hopefully this feed is fused so removing the fuse would be safer, it may already have been removed.
