We are away in the van for the weekend and for some reason the lights, water pump have gone off a couple of times. Microwave, fridge etc don't seem to be affected.

Couple of strange things - the display on the cab radio is flickering and I can't turn the radio on or off or make it do anything different. Most strange is the Sargent unit. I don't have any handbooks with me so I just tried switching everything off. In the photo, I managed to switch the three red switches back on no problem but the black switch (on the left) just won't go back into the 'on' position, won't move from off position as shown,
IMG_20161120_170407.jpg
so we have no electrical heating or hot water.

Any Funsters ever had this problem and know what the cure is?

Many thanks for you help.

Try turning all red switches to the off position, then press the yellow test switch and try turning on the black main switch, then turn each red switch back on. Before doing this unplug all electrical devices in the bus!

Have you tried unplugging the mains lead and then rest your master trip see if that works

lights and water pump are on 12v. the charger is 240v mains so if the main trip is off, this wont work. sounds like the leisure battery is now going flat so lights are going out

The pump for sure and most likely the lights as well will be 12 volts so those trips shouldn't have any bearing on them, is 240 volts OK?

Sounds like the problem is on the 12v side, has your leisure battery died and is overloading the charger, if so best to disconnect it before it blows the charger.

Well, I unplugged the mains lead and connected to s different site socket. I have played about with the red switches / test switch and managed to get the black switch to go on. As I type all is working okay apart from the cab radio display which is flickering slightly even though it is switched off!

If anyone ever doubted whether the annual £15 for Fun was worth it just look, I had three helpful answers within 6 minutes of asking my question.

Many thanks @f6c, @bluesurf989 and @Speve.

a flickering cab radio is a sign of low battery voltage. have you checked the cab battery?

Oh, and also thanks to @TheBig1, @funflair, and @Lenny HB. At the moment we have mains power no problem, 12v is okay as far as I know. Leisure batteries checked / tested only a couple of weeks ago so they are okay.

Only mystery at the moment is the flickering display on the cab radio.

Many thanks everyone for your help, much appreciated.

I think this system is also capable of charging the starter battery on the control panel?

Lights in van just went off again but we still had mains power. I had to turn the power and lights back on at the control panel.

Can you switch the charger off? It's the only connection between mains and 12V and may be the culprit, although I cannot think why at the moment.

Just a thought, the problem could be related to a dodgy earth connection, possibly at the charger side of things

I think you could be right @Speve, I just tried making sure everything was on that should be on and my problems seem to be sorted so I'll leave well alone now. Thanks again everyone.

Turns out the charger was off for some reason, may have been when I had a hab check a couple of weeks ago. Its back on again now and everything seems okay. Most important thing is SWMBO hardly looked up from her ipad :).

I would be tempted to remove the 12v radio fuse.

Not sure why that would trigger the main breaker, but I hope that has sorted out your problem
