I have Adria coral dk690 on a 2009 x250 base.

I have an electrical charging issue. On board charger no longer charges the vehicle battery, the step doesn't auto retract and fridge doesn't auto switch to battery when engine running.

In addition the leisure battery doesn't appear to be charging when driving.

I have traced a blown fuse f38 on the dashboard fuse board. Any replacement fuse blows as soon as connected.
Any wizards out there able to suggest how I trace this fault!
Thank you

If the fuse blows immediately it is likely a direct short to earth on one of those circuits.
First without power on check the fuse holder to earh with a multi meter to prove or not that it is a short to earth.

You will then need to check each circuit for the short to earth then find where in that circuit the problem is.
Quite likely a damaged or trapped wire.

What is still working? Does the starter battery charge from the alternator when the engine is running? Does the fridge still work on 240V and gas? Do the habitation circuits (lights, pump etc) still work? Does the alternator warning light go off as normal when the engine has started?

Engine battery appears to be charged when engine running. Alternator lift off when engine running.

Fridge works on gas and 240v.

All habition circuits workin as designed.

i bethink this is heading for an auto electrician when I get home

There is something referred to as a D+ relay, energises when alternator is giving correct output 14V (I think) sounds like yours has failed

Ours failed and we had pretty much the same consequences as you are seeing, the fridge was most obvious, but our E&P legs wouldn’t deploy, luckily they were up not down 👍

Hi DavidG58.
Where is your D+ relay?

The only mention I can find of D+ in my van is a single wire on one of the inputs to my control panel. I cannot see where that comes from.

Ours is part of the Mercedes chassis, I would expect yours to be as well

Not familiar with Fiats but hopefully someone will know where theirs is 👍

Best of luck I started off like you , everything seemed to go wrong 🤔 but mostly easily fixed

You may find D+ connections behind a panel at the bottom of the right hand cab door pillar (This is a plug used in Motorhome conversions for Fiat cab to habitation electrics)
Have you looked at the relays in the fuse box/BCM that could be the ones linked to fuse F38 ?
If your PSU is an Electroblock EBL which model number is it ?

We have a schaudt EBL 226.

Will try looking behind the door pillar panel tomorrow.

On my Adria the relay is in with the leisure battery , just behind the drivers seat, but the fuse is behind trim panel that covers the drivers seatbelt mech/roll on the B pillar.

If you have checked the relays are ok in the fuse box / BCM it would also be worth checking the multi-plugs that are also in there as I think the right hand multi-plug includes the D+ signal.

The D+ input comes into the EBL226 on the 4-way connector Block 9, on the right. The D+ is on Pin4 (pos) and Pin1 (neg). There is a '1' with a small arrow showing Pin1 and the direction of numbering, Pin4 is the top, Pin 1 is the bottom one. The D+ should be about +12V when the engine is running, and about zero when the engine isn't running.

If there's no D+ there, check the 2A fuse on the D+ signal line. I don't know where it is, but I'd expect it to be near the starter battery. There should be at least three fuses, a 50A for the EBL supply, a 20A for the fridge 12V element, and a 2A for the D+ signal.

The D+ signal output leaves the EBL on Pin4 of the 15-way connector. Again there's an arrow showing the numbering. Pin1 is lower left, and Pin4 is next to Pin1. It should also be +12V when the engine is running, and zero when not running.

That should be enough to enable you to check out the D+ signal, which switches many different things when the engine is running.

The manual for the EBL 226 is available for download from the Schaudt website. An English version is available, but the site is in German and not easy to navigate. It's also available here:

You can't be a million miles from;

https://www.apuljackelectronics.co.uk/

Highbridge, just off the M5.

Did a good job on my Adria Coral 660 when all sorts of electric issues kicked off.

From my experience they are usually busy and can't handle 'drop ins.'

FYI My Electroblok had issues they removed it and took it in for refurbishment and I went on my way.

The van part functioned perfectly and was safe to drive, but nothing electrical functioned in the Habitation until the refurbished Electroblok and refitted, at Apuljack, by appointment.

Sorry, got that wrong, Pin1 is lower right, as shown by the number 1 and the arrow. Now, where did I put that Specsavers card...? :-)
