I’m all for breathing fresh air catalytic converters, not pouring pollution into the sea but are we warming the planet? The earth is 4.5Billion years old there have been at least 7 major ice ages lasting millions of years. Within these cold periods there are further periods of warming and further cold periods lasting tens of thousands of years. For the last 4.5 billion years the planet has cooled and warmed its caused by the sun! We now have scientists with gigantic research budgets producing global warming sorry its now climate change evidence, that we are causing the planet to warm based on a tiny sample period of hundreds or so years of possible temperature changes. Last weekend was very late for a typical Easter and was reported as the warmest Easter for 70 years, so 70 years ago we had warmer temperatures at this time of year. Good scam for governments to rake in billions in green taxes they just wind up the tree huggers and set um off on a few protests for a bit of propaganda to convince the public its real to get um to buy into the next big green idea. Only last week we had a snotty little kid on Sky News telling us we only have 12years left to save the planet, Please!!!!!!!

Tell us again how you are qualified to dismiss the information provided by climate scientists? It does seem that many very educated and qualified scientists have got it wrong .... and someone needs to correct these pesky charts showing annual temperature changes over 160 years or so for the UK...

You don't need qualifications to understand, even if? these numbers are correct and you are talking 1 degree in 160 years. Its an absolute tiny sample period in the history of a planet 4.5 Billion years old that has a history of cooling and warming by many 10's of degrees.

It is the rate of increase which is unprecedented; it is significantly faster than the world has experienced before. The consequences are significant for us.

Straight out of Donald Trumps own theory. You cannot abuse anything without consequences, the planet included, in fact especially the planet.

I think most people can agree that there is no such thing as a free lunch, just some are obsessed with who should pay for the lunch and not everyone wants to pay their share etc.

For millions of years other creatures roamed the earth and rampant plant growth buried carbon dioxide and other gases deep in the ground. Later a slightly clever animal came along that thrived in this new cooler atmosphere. The slightly clever animal dug up and burned the stored deposits and released the gases back into the atmosphere. The slightly clever animal might become clever enough to maintain an atmosphere in which it can continue to thrive, or it might not.

The planet will go on but the species that thrive on it may be different ones.

Looks to me like there are two viewpoints either it seems pretty certain we are all causing a problem lets look at how to try and reduce the implications or I,m all right Jack stuff any future generations .

Another 150 private jets and 1200 limos for the delegates
We haven't got enough limos in the country to fulfill the demand," said Majken Jorgensen, the managing director of the city’s biggest limousine firm. "We're having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden."
Never mind though five of the climate dignitaries’ vehicles are hybrids

Anybody see the bbc this morning. There was an article on the environmental stuff and a report on Bristol cloth. It’s all sourced and made in a 15 mile radius all about its carbon footprint etc. Then they went on to say it’s been sold as far away as USA and Australia ! Am I missing something.

Whilst some politicians may be on a gravy train it doesn’t mean the scientists are wrong. You may think some of us are being suckered but I am not inclined to believe what many big corporations are feeding us to protect their old interests. Who is being suckered by whom is a matter of opinion but scientific facts are what I will follow.

It would appear this poor girl has some mental health issues. Her parents should be protecting her, not building her up for a massive disappointment.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...limate-suspicion-cynics-say-theres-story.html

She is autistic. That doesn't mean that she can't express her concerns; if she was prevented from expressing her concerns, it is likely that she would either try harder or go back on hunger strike until people listen to her. The massive disappointment will come if Governments don't do anything to reduce contributions to climate change ... she won't be the only one who will be disappointed.

Considering how densely populated we are I thought we would be nearer the top then that.

The USA, China & Russia etc. use more coal fired power stations. In addition to the CO2 they release, coal power stations also release lots of other pollutants ... it is possible that the UK cut back on coal earlier than other countries because we are relatively densely populated and the pollution coal releases was impacting on more people. Governments might ignore CO2 emissions but it is more difficult to ignore smog.

I think the other reason is its pollution over a couple of hundred years not whats coming out now. I think a lot of the ones who go on about how much pollution China etc produce now conveniently forget our smogs of the past .

CHECK OUT HYDROGEN AS A POWER SOURCE. Back in 1963 in Gibraltar, I met a young university student whose course/thesis/paper was to run a motor car fueled by Hydrogen. He had a normal car running, his only problem was getting the car to create enough hydrogen as it continued to run. Check out Hydrogen as a power source, it is clean energy created by electrolysis of water and has zero emissions. Considering this chap had it working back then - 1963, imagine how far it would have progressed by now if his discovery/invention had been followed up. He took his work as far as he could and sold the prototype to Shell. But of course back then we really had no idea of the implications of climate change and emissions etc.
