we just realised that the van doesn't have a razor socket in the bathroom!

If I just cut off the plugs ,can I replace them with normal plugs ? They are all 240v

What's a normal plug?

My electric toothbrush has a charging case that works with USB. Might be an option for you. Or you could use your inverter.

Agree with Mike, get an adapter that way still be able to use in a razor socket. Look in Boots travel accessories or any major supermarket

Whatever you do, don't charge them via a NON pure sinewave inverter. I have killed 3 electric toothbrushes this way

Just get an adaptor as mentioned, the beauty of this is that the original 2 prong plugs are then left on the leads so if you want to use them in another location, ie campsite shower block etc, you can, but if you put on a 3 pin plug you'd have to then have a travel adaptor to use them abroad.

But would you trust it.
In my experience pound shop shite is at best flimsy rubbish, at worst dangerous.
In my case yes, it's actually better quality than some of the ones you pay 3 times the price for!

I cut the two pin plugs off my toothbrush chargers and wired on a standard 3 pin household plug. The two pin adaptors are not very good and I've never needed one to charge my toothbrush.

Agree with the sine wave inverter advice though. I bought a 300W sinewave inverter just to charge the toothbrush when we are off grid ;-)

All of these solutions only work if you are on EHU or use an inverter, which will have to be pure sine wave for the toothbrush. With the inverter it seems silly and inefficient to change 12V DC up to 240V AC and then back down to low the DC voltages that both the shaver and toothbrush use.

I bought a 12V adaptor for my Philips shaver off of Amazon. Just plugs into the 12V sockets we have in various places and converts the 12V DC to the 15V DC the shaver needs to charge.

In addition we have given up using the expensive rechargeable electric toothbrushes that only seem to last about 3 years. Instead we buy cheap Oral B electric toothbrushes that use two AA batteries. One each for home and motorhome plus a third one as a spare. Easy enough to replace rather than recharge. But in any event I also have a 12V battery charger in the motorhome that can charge AA rechargeables so I am going to use those instead.

Discovered Fairywill sonic toothbrushes recently. Only around twenty quid, charge from a USB socket, charge lasts ages, leave your teeth feeling really clean, what's not to like?

Yes, no problem. They come with a few as well. We love ours. Look at Amazon or eBay.

Typically not answering the question: We have a 12v socket in the bathroom, no 240v socket, but we now use a battery-powered toothbrush (i.e. NOT rechargeable) quite happily, and my shaver (NiCad from over 20 years ago) lasts a good 6 weeks on a charge, which is replenished via the inverter to a standard bathroom wall-wart charger plugged into a 2-pin to standard 3-pin adapter.

I bought an adapter from Amazon for £3, cheaper than driving into town.

Sorted ..... our van has European sockets so just before I cut off the two pin plug and wired on a 'full' sized'European plug I decided to try it ....... I do of course trust the wife implicitly, so I must say I was rather surprised (and please) to find that it did indeed fit

Thanks for all the comments
