Has anyone fitted an electric step to the front passenger door as my good lady who is neither a high jump champion or an Amazon and finds the step up and down even worse? Any sensible suggestions besides stilts please?

I had one fitted to the passenger door for the same reason after getting up and down at toll booths across France a few years ago. I can't remember cost etc. I will ask Steve and get back to you later(y)

Steve says we got it from Mick at S.A.P. and that he is in reviews on here. He can't remember the cost and neither can I, it was about 5 years ago. It can't have been really expensive as we would both remember that!!! I'll see if I can find an invoice for it.

Ok, I can try SAP but thanks for offering to hunt for an invoice.

Quite easy on an A Class I have the factory option on my driver's door. Make sure you get a Thule step the Project 2000 that Hymer fit are rubbish. They are about £300 plus any fitting costs if not doing it yourself.

And if you get the slide out one in its not as low as the drop down one.

Jacksons have them at 312, it would be 2 or 3 hours to I would think as its not job anyone does often.

Hate to give out the wrong info. Just double checked and the passenger door step on our Frankie is a slide out the drop down is the hab door.

So, on recommendation the solution is a Thule slide out step. So far my best price is O’Learys at £249. Will check out any other possibles before pressing the go button.
Thanks for the info all.
I don't like my slide out...too slow and doesn't drop down enough....much preferred the Thule slide and drop one I had on my prev vans.
And i kid you not ...what a coincidence...I left my pitch at Plassey this morning and got to the grey drive over drop and the step hadn't retracted in(no buzzer) ...a small stone had got stuck between the step and the cassette from the pitch. Prised the stone out and the step didn't wanna come out till I kicked and pulled it a few times..
Seems ok now.

Mine has the Hymer fitted Project 2000 version. Van is now 10 year old and step still working perfectly.
You have been lucky, as steps go the biggest pile of poo ever. Lost count of the number of times I've repaired mine and know quite a few others with similar problems.

Update, as it wasn't raining too bad I decided to lie on my back and have a good look underneath where the step needs to go.
two immediate obstacles fuel filler pipe and exhaust pipe. I dont think there is enough clearance depth wise for the slide out one so will do closer more detailed survey. Looks doubtful to me.

Should fit, mines a factory fitted option.
I'll try to remember to take a photo in the morning.

Finally remembered to take some photos, in the second pic you can see the top of the exhaust on the right bottom corner .
