Is anyone using electric scooters in their vans while abroad?
I know they are illegal in the uk but tolerated in Portugal!

Yes illegal here but I find it amusing that the police seize them and auction them off to go back into circulation again.
I work in Wilson’s Car auction and there is normally a couple going through every week, some quite nice ones and very fast as the lads scoot about the yard on them.
Wilson have a yard in Glasgow if you wanted to take a look

I said on here a while back that you look ridiculous on a scooter after a certain age and I'd never use them.

I can admit I was wrong. I've been using the bolt rented ones while I've been in the baltic towns and cities. The app is brilliant, it shows you if there's any near by and how much of a charge they have left.

If you want to use it just scan the QR code and it activates. 20c a minute with speeds up to 25km/h. (restricted on Friday nights, presumably for all the pissheads)

Looked in to buying one as they fold up neat for fitting in the garage and the latest models seem to offer a 30km range for 4 hours charge.

I'm tempted but if I do it's just one more battle in the fight to get a bit fitter.

I have one, used it once up and down my lane and now it’s sat in the garage not being used.

Anyone want to buy a scooter, it’s electric lol.

That's funny my daughter worked at Wilson's Queensferry for 16 years, finished 2 year's ago and yes all sorts come up for auction.

I've tried one , (unrestricted) but as I expected the quicker and smaller the wheels the more unstable they are , factor in the reduced resilience with age not a good match :) JMHO

I'm currently sitting in Riga old town. So funny watching the scooter riders on the cobbled streets 😂

We have couple of E-bikes which make us feel vulnerable enough on the roads. E scooters look downright suicidal watching them weave past me when I'm in the car.

We hired them couple of years ago in LA, great fun and an easy way to get about. Pick one up, electronically release it via an app and off you go. When you finish leave it in one of the specified areas and you stop getting charged. Great idea but I can see them being absolutely lethal in the wrong hands, they need to make a noise so that other people can hear them coming, like they were meant to do with electric cars.

I nearly got myself one last night, cycling around a bend in the cycle path, a young lad was coming in the opposite direction carrying far too much speed after coming down a hill, without any gloves or helmet on, when we met at some bollards, he locked his back wheel up and got massive speed wobble, bearly missing me and the the bollard!

Another accident waiting to happen

They've got bells.
