You'd think they'd design something all new. That's just a diesel van shell with motors and battery thrown in it šŸ˜Š
I agree, until they are designed from the ground up as electric they will not be very good.

But how different does it need to be? it's a van so load capacity in both weight and volume are the most important considerations so the motive power should be up the front out of the way anyway.

Not sure about this but surely designed from the ground up and remembering Lithiumā€™s are lightweight couldnā€™t the batteries be spread under the floor and also make the Van rear wheel drive.
increased payload and far greater volume.

Does "white van man" care which wheels are driven? batteries under the floor and motor on the rear axle would increase the loading height and reduce the volume in the van unless you push the driver right to the front with next to no crash protection.

Yes lithium's might be light but my calculations say that if they were using LiFePO4 which they won't be the 79kWh battery pack would be the equivalent of 40 of our batteries at 27kg a time so well over 1000kg, strip off the casings and the BMS but you could still be looking at 500kg for the battery.

My concept was on the basis of Motorhome home use for which the Op was asking about.
