I'm a newbie
Does anyone know what sites going to do with the rise of electricity?

I've seen caravans with electric heater in awnings.

Even motorhomes can use a fair bit of electricity.

Come the summer, a hookup could use over a pound an hour if 15 amp.

I can't see sites will be able to ignore the rise. Plus heating facilities and water for showers etc.

Prices may increase, but the site owners/clubs will be keeping an eye on the bookings and how it could affect them……..

Someone has to abuse facilities used by all. We only need occasional EHU to keep the batteries charged. Perhaps meters would be fairer.

….but costly to install and monitor….!

Keep in mind too that whatever's happening to domestic supplies, commercial has gone up by around 40%. Our £8000 a year at the bar looks set to be nearer £11k. Expect to see meters, or minimum charges of around a tenner a day.

On a perverse 'brighter' note, calor won't seem so expensive as an alternative. Assuming you can get it.

I am using two sites this year as venues for MHF Rallies that have EHU.
One is a commercial site that is owned by a Company that owns 28 sites in the UK.
I negotiated the price last year.
I have received no information from them nor do I expect to.
I expect the price to be honoured.

In the second case, the venue is privately owned and I have been informed that, because of the increase in the price of electricity which was unknown at the TIME of negotiation, the price per nt. has increased.
I have included this increase to the attendees and no one has commented on the increase.

Bit of a worry for the big club sites where (so I believe) all pitches have EHU included in the pitch fee..

My log supplier's prices were increased 30% last week.

Genny sales will boom! I have extortionate metered at the Marina but do use it at present, so I recon the genny is going to be pressed into use as an option. Considerately of course!

On a positive note, which is hard to find these days, if the rising cost for supplying EHU hook ups on all sites makes them offer more Non Hook up pitches for those who can be self sufficient then its a good thing.
The reason we left the CMC was the rising costs of electric which was priced in, whether you needed it or not, and not enough sites offered a non electric pitch option at the time.
Metered pitches although initially expensive to install & maintain, may be the only sensible option that enables sites to recover all their usage costs, without setting the price bar too high and discourage some that dont need much electric.

They could fit 10 amp breakers to the EHU post to limit the max supply available.

I once stopped at a site off the M40 and they used coin operated timers. So perhaps 6amps and an hour or two to charge up would do.
