:HelloThere:

You don't say what year it is but I assume it has an Elektroblock charger so yes it should charge the engine battery as well. Used to be normal to leave the van permanently plugged in charging the battery but opinions have changed and to prolong the life of the Elektroblock now reckoned it is best just to top up the batteries for a few hours or day each week.

Brought a new Burstner 740 last year, and was told the the EHU only charges the leisure batteries. This seems to be backed up by the fact that the gauges on the control panel, show the leisure batteries being fully charged, but the cab battery still being down a little.
I keep it charged up when not using it, by taking it for a good run every couple of weeks.

What charger? They used to fit Elektroblocks and if it has one I would be surprised if it doesn't charge the engine battery.

It should do. I had a 2003 747 and it didn't, had to fit a battery master.
Now have a 2005 elegance, and it does, so it seems the later models will (y)

Another newbie here.... can I assume that the solar panel I had fitted (to my new-to-me Autocruise Accent) meets the need to top up the batteries? The van will be in storage with no hook-up between trips. Thank you.

What size panel, what type of regulator and is it single or dual output?

Hmm, not entirely sure without going back to the dealer. It's 60W...

OK, so it is single output & feeds two leisure batteries and vehicle battery (some kind of smart charger, I'm told). They didn't say anything about the regulator despite me asking. If it helps, it's a Swift Aurocruise Accent...
