We're looking at getting ourselves a couple of electric bikes. We were offered a go on a couple down in Spain and we both thought they were brilliant! The bikes in question had been picked up at a caravan show for about £600. I notice lots on ebay etc, but would prefer to try before we buy. Do you get much for this kinda money?

Any advice or recommendations welcome; we live in Nottingham so anything local would be great.

Cheers Dave

we got a folding electric from green zebra cycles for £600 great bit of kit. goes neatly into a locker in its carry bag. only watch out is that electric bikes are heavy between 20kgs and 25kgs each. the battery can weigh 4 / 5 kgs.

Thanks all, the bikes at AS look very similar to the ones we tried in Spain and we were both very impressed by them. Some good recommendations on here and sensible money as also!

Thanks, Dave

There is a dealer at Long Eaton, we looked ar them at the recent Newark show, we also looked at AS of Coventry as well, and we also prefered the AS bikes, and intend to contact them shortly.

Seems like you are all favouring AS Electric Bikes. For the original poster- if hill climbing ability is needed then you would be better off going for a Crank Drive System - not hub. Giant and Kalkoff are two makes to consider, very well made and proven reliability. Not cheap though!
