About to buy again!
Exp
Several years
Looking to go back to motorhoming after a year caravanning and considering a few different models. Question? Why are Elddis that much cheaper than most others size for size. Can almost get a new one for my budget as apposed to a 5 year old other make. What experiences have people out there had in owning one?

We’ve had an Autoquest 115 from new since July 2020. Everything works and decent spec. Fit and finish probably not up there with the fancy brands, but it does us.

Specification is great, ours came with everything on it, awning, cab AC, cruise control, bike rack, plus lots more.

Now the bad.
They are absolutely thrown together. I've had to redo both leaking sink wastes, strengthen bathroom washbasin, seal round the plastic wheel arch liners underneath which were causing a damp floor and now the capping trim is starting to come loose round the back lights.

The internal cupboards and drawers are good quality though and to say how much we saved (£10k)on the other van we liked (Autotrail) it was still worth it, you've just got to go over it thoroughly and finish it off. Also it has got much better payload than the Autotrail.

We love it now ❤️

We have owned two, both bought new. Current one is an Autoquest 155. Good value, well equipped but build quality is lacking. No damp in either but be prepared to spend time fixing things that should have been done at the factory. We have just traded ours in for an Adria. Only lost £3k in three years.

We bought a secondhand Elddis Autoquest 175 four years ago, very pleased with it and no complaints.
We knew we were not buying a top quality made motorhome, but we certainly feel that we got value for money.

I got a (2017, I think) 185 a couple of years ago. It suits us. There is a lack of stowage space, so I removed the two rear travelling seats (under the front benches) and got a small trailer. Not keen on the blow-warm-air heating system; but, as we've the trailer, we take along a standalone convector heater. I'm medium height, at 6' 3", and only just fit in the nearside bed; the offside bed would be far too short.
The Peugeot bit is fine. I bumble along at 56mph (60mph on the speedo) and get an average of a smidgen over 32mpg.
Bits falling off/loose? The only thing to come apart for us is the little plastic thingy that keeps the habitation door open; we're currently using a bungy as the cheap Made in China replacement lasted all of two journeys away.
I've no regrets in buying it. Okay, I'd prefer a larger MH, but 1] I can't be a****d to get my licence re-upgraded, and 2] I can park the 185 on my drive and still get the car out of the garage:

Could someone explain the different models to me. Ie Magnum, Platinum.
I'm looking at the Autoquest 185 on Autotrader and there's Autoquest 185 . Autoquest Magnum gt 185 and Autoquest Platinum 185 🤷‍♀️
I'm a bit confused. com.
Thanks Colin.

The Magnum,Platinum etc. will be dealer specials.
They are a standard 185,s with extras fitted to the dealers specifications. Each will have a slightly different spec, for example seat coverings, external graphics etc.

I had a Marquis Majestic 125 (Elddis Accordo in drag). SOLID construction (Acronym for Soggy Or Lets In Damp). I had a kitchen floor replaced at 3 years old. Not a bad van for the money though.

We have had our Elddis 185 for 18 months now and it is a good value, no frills van. I think you’ll find plenty of threads moaning about loads of niggly issues with all brands, especially the so- called posh German ones. Fact is, motorhome manufacture hasn’t progressed much beyond a cottage industry and quality of the van depends a lot on the individuals who put it together and whether they were having a good day! Any issues we have had (minor) have usually been sorted quickly. Buy from an Elddis dealer though. The vans turn up on all sorts of dodgy dealers sites and they have no interest in maintaining them for you.
