Got my brand new Elddis but heating not really that warm? Running it off the electric hookup, any ideas guys?

Maybe you need to run it on gas to get up to temp then maintain it on ehu. Ours is diesel but I think the combi ones are lower power on elec than gas.

Electric on it's own doesn't heat up very well. As The Wino says, get it up to temperature on gas then, if the electric is "free", switch to maintain the temperature.

(Free electric means you're already paying for it - but if it's metered or you're paying extra for it, remember gas is MUCH cheaper per therm)

You don't say what the heating is but if it's a Truma C6 Combi it is 1.8 kw on electric, 6 kw on gas or 5.8 kw on both.

I don't have the details of your Elddis, but my 155 has EHU electric heating of 1, 2 or 3kw and it's always been enough to heat the place up even on sub-zero nights. That said, the gas heating is super fast and toasty warm in a few minutes.

Hi all thanks for the help. I’m at vanbitz having the new alarm on the Adria. Norman next door has the Elddis and is new to Motorhome. Yes he has now been made aware of MotorhomeFun and will be joining albeit to late for the discounted alarm ?

Think you may have Alde heating rather than Truma. Alde have 1, 2 and 3Kw, but Truma, which is more usually used only has 0.9 and 1.8kw as Lenny said

I could be wrong but I think the alde is only on the 255 as opposed to the 155, all the Encore’s are alde I believe, ours is?

Again, we don’t know what heating you have.

In our 125 we have Whale heating. It seems to warm up quickly on electric compared to previous motorhomes with Truma. We have recently switched from a 6m PVC (with Truma) to a 6m Compact Coachbuilt (with Whal). Although there is more air space to heat warm up is quicker. So far we have not had to resort to running on combined electric and gas.

If it's (only) 1.8kw that's a lot less than mine at 3kw !! I'd have thought that a British design and manufacturer of motorhomes for use in the UK would have more than 1.8kw. For example I have a 3kw heater in my conservatory.

I think my 155 may have Whale heating. I have never had to use both electric and gas together but I did use gas only one night last year in the snow and it warmed up super quick.

OP hasn't told us what model Elddis they have.

As said before Truma 6 Combi blown air is only 1.8Kw on electric.

Our Elddis has a Whale heater too. We hardly ever use it but i think it has 3 settings the lowest setting is quiet with the fan on low. But the other 2 warm the van up fine.
None of them are as quick as a 1kw fan heater mind. It's good to take one as back up anyway if you're going somewhere cold.

Is that the one that puts the boiler outside the motorhome
Says Elddis 194 in thread title???
Oooops sorry, my bad.

Sorry been out whilst alarm was fitted I don’t know the model as next door are still out I believe it is the 3 setting one and like our van requires gas to boost the heating. This is the first time in the Adria and I’ve found the same thing but using the gas has boosted the temp. They must have dropped the power output from the previous vans. Thanks for advice (y)

Not sure, but the water heater on our 125 is mounted under the floor.

I was worried at first but, having looked closely, it is well insulated and then boxed for protection. I am now happy that mounting the water heater in this way, (the space heater is inboard), has freed up interior locker space.

The space heater is fitted in the front dinette seat with three outlets in the seat base to the m/h interior and one to the washroom. No long blown air tubes to lose heat.

Fit a 5KW or 8KW Chinese Air Diesel Heater { Cheaper to buy than a Webasto / Eberspacher }blow heater.
LED Controller. Remote Control option. 12V to operate the fan and pulsating 12V diesel 'straw sized' fuel pump. Thermostatically controlled 8C to 35C.
Best thing that I have fitted to My Motorhome and other peoples Leisure Vehicles.
