We're doing the guided tour of the le Caminito del Rey and expecting to finish about 16:00 hrs. Does anyone know if 1/ can I park in the car park ok? no silly height barriers
2/ Is there an aire nearby or cheepo campsite not wishing to drive on too far that night?

Cheers

When is this ? Can't wait for your report on it, even if they have sanitised it.

When it was a hero's trail.......

I've booked 20th January, booking essential as the they sell out weeks in advance. Only 25 at a time on the escourted tours.

We are staying in la Bella Vista 4th-20th it's about 120kms direction Granada from Manilva so booked the 1300hrs tour. It's a 4mile hike for 2 fit 60somethings. 3 hours? plus bus back. so thinking 1630hrs back in van.....

I will report back with photos (if we survive).

Tried to book earlier this year. No sodding chance, there flying in to visit this place and it was booked out for months ahead. I asked if I could turn up in case of a cancellation and they said no.

Thanks I've booked the bus, but the parking info is just what I needed.

That's what it was like when we visited many moons ago, we got as far as one of the holes like the one at 2min 30 sec in, I think that one was a lot farther than we got:xsmile:

We are on our way there but worried about access in our 7.5 metre van

This Spanish site Camino del Rey in a motorhome recommends parking near Bobadilia station and taking a 15 minute train trip to El Chorro. There is one train a day leaving eight hours to do the walk etc.

I am asking in the vain hope someone might know what the parking on the small town of Bobadilia is like.

When ru going? If before the 20th let us know how you get on please. I'm planning on arriving about 1130 for a 1300 ticket, so trains are out of the question.

We are going later this week. There are plenty of tickets available.
I think we will probably go to the aire in Antequera and hire a car. Looking at Avis it will cost 25 euros and seems an easier option and the office is a 30 minute walk from the aire.
Will let you know.

We went today having stayed on the free Antiquerra aire 45 minutes away and hired a car.

There are not loads of car parking spaces but if you can fit in a single space you might have a good chance.

There are no height barriers and coaches approach from all directions and there is room to turn round.

There is a campsite about 1km from the north access. Campercontact 73270 which had a few on.

There are quite a few little spots to wildcamp on the road down to Ardales or plenty of opportunities around the south access at El Chorro.

We took a slow stroll and the walk itself took less than two and a half hours. Easily done in 2 hours.( not including getting to the start and back on the bus)

I can be much more specific if you need more info.

PHOTOS! :D
Be nice to see you getting some exercise :LOL:cos the last time we met was about 15 years ago and you were crashed out in a deckchair at Torres (Villajoyosa) in the days when it was a proper Spanish campsite and not a tarmac carpark!
Remember?

Remember?

I remember it well but I am sure I was not crashed out. Never had time to relax with them useless kids around all the time. I remember we called it a Fa...mini meet. Good to know some of us oldtimers are still on the road.

We went to El Torres a couple of weeks ago. Its criminal how they have ruined that gorgeous site.

The walk is nothing like that video above. It is perfectly safe unless you suffer from vertigo.
We could not believe it was not overrun by Chinese tourists until the girl doing our safety talk told us that selfie sticks were not allowed.

Anyway my first attempt at photos.

Thanks Billym for all your help and info, we had no chance of getting the 8mtr in the car park, so we slid up the road to the Campercontact 73270 you suggested. Walked down the 1.5kms to the Caminito entry. We did the full walk and the bus back dropped us at the campsite. Stayed there overnite for 16.5 euros. No problems! It's a great attraction isn't it they were turning people away with no tickets.

I really enjoyed it great experience!!

See that one underneath, that's what we walked on many years ago and it was just like that then.......we didn't get very far.

Some braver than us managed to clamber round the holes you can see in pic 3.

Glad it went well.

No way I would have tried that old path.

I also remember it well. We had a mobile on Hercules until the very end  but started off on Torres. We still hear from the old owner from time to time.

Maybe we"ve met??? (y)

Thanks for the info, tried to have a look at this last year with @PhilandMena but was booked up, now currently holed up in Mojacar till mid April so will make the effort again with a stop at the Alhambra in Granada :-)
