Just looking
The Mrs had to move the van when i was away and drove it off the drive without unplugging the EHU wire - OMG

Autotrail Arapaho has the van point socket in an underneath side panel. The van socket is a little loose and the EHU connector stayed in but the orange wire yanked out leaving three naked wires on the drive and the lights in the house tripping

Once unplugged from the house socket all fine no tripping

I unplugged the connector still attached to van EHU point and rewired the orange flex into it - i did notice that it looked like only two wirs had been attached originally and the third had not been - i have now wired all 3 in. Should it only be two and if so which ones?

Plugged into van then plugged into home socket and trips every time?

The wire is normal and plugs into a home socket adaptor

I could order a new total EHU wire but am worried maybe it is the van point itself as that seems okay but a little loose

Any obvious ideas?

Have you checked all connections on the EHU cable? All three wires should be connected at every connection. Live, Neutral and Earth

If you turn off the main consumer unit in the van and connect everything up, if it still trips then it's something from the outside socket up to the vans consumer unit. If it's all ok until you turn on the consumer unit, then it's something internal to the van

The larger pin is always the earth, green and yellow

Oops but these things happen.

As said above try another lead first then dive into all the electrical connections.

Good luck

Does it trip when the lead is not plugged into the van?

I wonder if the fuse in the adaptor for mains plug in may have blown?

OK
Plug in the lead to the house, Do not plug into the van. Does it trip the house if no lead ok ATM.

Switch all MCBs sockets lights etc off in the van, plug in lead. Does it trip house. If yes primary input fault with van find an electrician to sort.

If no trip, switch on one MCB at a time if you get a trip that's the problem (ask a new Q saying OMG tripped)

If No trips what was on when you had a trip, e.g. fridge , heating, etc go through items one by one till you get a trip.

The ask the Q's about what's a likely problem. Otherwise it's how longs a bit of string.

The Mrs has just said that the wire when tripping the house was no longer plugged into the van at all so it must be the lead ?

Almost certain to be disconnected wires in at least one end of the lead.
Simple to check, you only need a screwdriver to separated the plugs cover and body.

DONT FORGET TO UNPLUG FIRST.

So chances are the cable has been stressed/pulled at the socket end (plugs into the van) suggest disassemble the socket and check the connections, or take lead to an electrician or buy new one.

Use a multimeter and check continuity in the lead, I'm guessing a break somewhere in its length causing a short

It is important that all three wires are connected. The live (brown) and neutral (blue) carry the power, and the earth (green/yellow) is a protective earth. The pins need to be correctly wired.

The pins are marked L, N and E - or maybe the Earth symbol (a vertical line and three horizontal lines reducing in size. They might be labelled in blue on a blue background, so not obvious. As Bessy765 says, the earth pin is larger than the other two.
