I leave mine on but turn off the water pump as when it’s drained down as it is now the pump keeps running trying to fill it up. Can’t see it doing any harm being on.

Depending on the model, you may need to have the panel switched on in order to charge both the Leisure and Engine batteries. What type of control panel do you have?

I alwaya switch off the main master switch. Also switch on the EHU for a couple of days then off for two or three weeks. If away use a simple timer.

Get one of these then if you forget and drive off there will be no damage. Have the short end of the lead with the male plug at the van end.

The only way you'll know for sure is measure the voltage of the batteries before plugging in. Then plug in and test again. If you need to switch the panel on to see the voltages go up then you need to leave the panel on.

It does seem to vary as between vans. Our Bailey will charge the leisure only on hookup. We have a Battery Master fitted so that the vehicle battery gets charged too on hook up. But the master switch can be off for this to occur. That control only affects the 12volt circuits so the charger isn’t switched off when the control panel is off. But this is not the case on some other vans. IRHP above has the best answer.

Constant switching is the problem. Electronics don't like it.

Forgot to add earlier. We also use the motorhome fridge and freezer as over flow from the house ones so need it on all the time.
