For ever, but mostly in a tent on a roller skate.
Am about to buy van, rent out home, give up work and full time it. Please give reassurance as family are about to get me sectioned.
Well, you have to start somewhere!

Thanks Irnbru. Have done more research than the flippant introduction implies, but still have so much to learn.

Do it.

Renting the house out is ideal, if you don't take to full timing then you've not lost too much.

Keep us all informed how you get on :)

I'd do it to, tomorrow if my husband would grow some balls! Always got a reason to block it but hopefully in the next year or two. I keep threatening that if he comes home and the rv is not on the drive that I've waited long enough and started without him :roflmto::roflmto::roflmto:. I'd take a year or as long as I needed and travel all the UK and Europe while I'm still fit enough to enjoy it.

Wow, live lifeline. Thank you so much StitchesnFluff. Have done a lot of research but have so much to learn...starting with getting round this website. Need to thank all the great encouragement which has flooded in, but work calls. How do I reply to all please?

Long time
Buy your van, have some holidays in it, once you're used to it go on an extended holiday about 2 or 3 months, if you're still keen go ahead and do it!

Lights, welcome to FUN, and all the very best with your new venture. (y)

Keeping a property on, albeit rented out, is a good move, as you'll always have somewhere to come back to if needed. :)

Good luck,

Jock & Rita. :)

"Surround yourself with positive people"....this certainly. is the site to do so. Thank you to everyone who has replied and hope to meet many of you soon.
The sensible advice given by Shrimp63 is right, should circumstances permit, however living at the edge of the UK with limited funds to accommodate home and travelling, dictates an either or situation. Hence going for it. Spent apprenticeship in an R10 on a Rally with no water or toilet facilities and still loved it. Buying 'van which I can at least stand in albeit catswinging is out.
Still busy finalising details and setting off in winter!! Forward and ever upward, will post when I surface and survive. Cheers, Lights.

Welcome Lights, well jell, as my kids would say.

Would do it in a heartbeat if SWMBO would agree.

Enjoy it while you can, there's a whole lotta world out there to see.

Hi and Welcome from TheBus Phoebe and Me.

I think most folk were astounded when I gave up all my 'stuff' and started to travel, but I haven't had one regret. You can have a mooch on my blog if you like. It starts from before I actually set out in 2013 - still on the road now and loving it. Wouldnt want a house again I don't think - but I let life take me where it will now, and am much happier for it :)
