stupid question it's blood and body fluid transmitted so if some one dying of it is bitten by a mosey then some one in the room is bitten by that mosey and that mossy fly's off and bites again is that possible or can mossies' only carry malaria.

Possible I guess but we don't have the mozzie problem they have in Africa so I can't see it spreading that way in the UK.

Good point bill, the problem is we don't know that's the worrying part

In the next 18 months more people will be killed by flu than anything like the worst statistics of Ebola.

That's a fact, live life and enjoy..?

You never know how longs left anyway

From the Guardian
A deadly disease is set to hit the shores of the US, UK and much of the rest of the northern hemisphere in the coming months. It will swamp our hospitals, lay millions low and by this time next year between 250,000 and 500,000 worldwide will be dead, thousands of them in the US and Britain.

Despite the best efforts of the medical profession, there’s no reliable cure, and no available vaccine offers effective protection for longer than a few months at a time.

If you’ve been paying attention to recent, terrifying headlines, you may assume the illness is the Ebola virus. Instead, the above description refers to seasonal flu – not swine or bird flu, but regular garden variety influenza.

Our fears about illness often bear little relation to our chances of falling victim to it, a phenomenon not helped by media coverage, which tends towards the novel and lurid rather than the particularly dangerous.

Poor analogy, when someone gets killed by/in a car, the car doesn't carry on killing more people
Not really - the road continues to be occupied by people some of whom will die. A car involved in an accident may not kill anyone else but other cars take up the gauntlet and continue where it left off.

Anyway the comparison was of numbers killed and makes a valid point.

The death rate caused by the Ebola outbreak in Western Africa is rising exponentially, the poster stated death rates by motor accidents as he recalls, is 5 per day which appears to me to be pretty static

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
The blue touch paper has definitely been lit. I've always been very nervous of this particular virus & we're teetering on the brink of a major Pandemic. This isn't scare mongering & I do not feel that governments are taking this issue as seriously as they should.

Jeremy *unt has said the following
"I feel doubly reassured that we have robust plans in place in the event that we get an Ebola case in the UK," he said. This clown arranged for a dummy run to check were ok, what a muppet wouldn't trust him to turn my taps on

If i remember correctly, the "experts" said you couldn't catch mad cow disease, opps got that wrong then.

They said the nurse in the States didn't follow protocol, but didnt say what she didn't do.

We don't have to worry though as all the "important people" ie Politicians etc will be kept well away from any risk of infection.

Its our troops that will be returning with presents no one wants here, im sure you can be a carrier without presenting symptoms.

Just ignore my ramblings im sure im wrong :)

Interesting programme on the worlds top 10 deadliest viruses. No 1, Ebola. First thought that apes were the carriers but now state that it is fruit bats that are carriers and apes are the hosts. The most concerning was the parting comment that they now think that Ebola can be transmitted in apes through the respiratory system.

Oh yeah

Don't panic, the politicians have got it taped...................

WHO now saying 10,000 cases a month possible from the beginning of December hopefully there wrong, but what if there not, they also said current deaths and infected vastly underestimated
Has our goverment underestimated this vicious virus because if they have we could be in serious trouble shortly they are still letting people in from infected countries and even not clear on whether the screening is compulsory
If I lived in one of these countries and had the money I would be heading here and even more so if I had symptoms as we have the BEST health care in the world IMO

Its nature re balancing the growing population
I wonder if you still think this if it arrives in the uk however true the statement is
Zmap the only affective vaccine has run out, there is none available in the world and they expect it to take some time before it's available and yet we still allow people to enter the uk from infected countries

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
I agree, deaths from chocolate withdrawal will far outnumber deaths from ebola.
If Ebola ever gets a foothold here, (which I think it will), in the inner cities, it will spread like a wild fire. And with only a couple of dozen specialist beds available.................................:(

Hey don't worry, if it gets bad, the Government will apologise, say lessons will be learned and then ask for you to vote for them again !!
