My cousin Sold some Bose headphones and final bid was £180. They were packaged and sent to the buyer.

A few days later buyer sets up a return as the items are 'faulty'. They arrived by recorded delivery so ebay refunds the buyer the full amount.

My cousin opens the package to find a heap of wires, obviously weighing the same as the headphones. Despite complaints to Ebay, there is nothing they can do about it.

Just another reason why sellers are not protected.

That sounds too easy. Buy summat from them and do the same.

Or better still you know their address.............

It might be an idea then to open returned items before signing and if they are not what you expect then you dont sign as receivibg the item. Would that be possible i wonder?

eBay are shit when it comes to sellers all they are interested in is profit. I used to make part of my living selling on eBay all they are interested in is attracting more buyers and increasing there profits.

I sold a tablet then Ebay pulled the sale as the buyer was not registered with Ebay. How does that happen?..they took the advert down so I couldn't offer it reslist it..
.Last week I was selling some carefully worded "Robertsons Marmalade Jam Badges "....after five days of bidding Ebay pulled the sale as it was against their racial discrimination policy ...but they let loads of badges and dolls get sold despite the sellers using the offensive words in the description. So there's no consistency..:cry:

My Wife and I have been selling on Ebay for years but have noticed in the last year or so its been a nightmare, Buyers are far more protected than sellers, even more so now after Paypal upped there returns policy to 6 months, Which basically means you can buy an item ( certain items ) use it and return it for a full refund within this time limit , absolute joke ! We have had people buy an item from us and leave us glowing feedback then 2 month or so down the line want to send it back to us for a full refund with some lame excuse.
The bubble has burst as far as We are concerned with selling on Ebay.

They won't be a good profitable business for long if they don't look after their sellers.

As a seller on eBay you have no rights unless it's a classified add like you use for vehicles.

That's the only thing I'll sell on eBay.

But I buy loads because as a buyer you can't lose out.

The few items I've bought that haven't turned up or have been faulty etc I've had replaced without a problem or my money refunded.

Sadly it will result in less sellers eventually.

Totally agree with you its a buyers market.

We sold a 3d printer. Buyer refused to pay extra for Insured postage.
He recd item told me damaged in transit then put a claim in for faulty goods
They froze the 300 in my PayPal account.
Spoke to ebay told me tough should had made buyer pay extra postage if he refused cancel transaction.
Rd me if he returns via ebay they would honour his claim.
Thankfully he never did no idea why think he was trying it on.
Lesson learnt anything of value is not listed with insured postage not optional.
Ebay only want their cash and have buyers protection but no seller protection

I used to sell a lot of old stuff on eBay.

Then when the listing fees, sellers fees and Paypal fees starting becoming almost comparable to the amount I'd have left I had to wonder why I'd started working for eBay/Paypal. Because that's what it was, selling my old stuff for their profit.

Generally these days I find it easier to give stuff away or bin it, there's always Freecycle and there's no sellers fees on that...

I bought a container for christmas paper, got a massive christmas tree bag which was like a very thin plastic body bag. Went throught the not as described, cash refunded next day. several weeks later got the parcel back as uncollected. As a buyer was glad of the refund/returns policy. There wasn't much money involved either.

Try Shpok sold some stuff on there at no charge.

I am at the point where I list as "Cash on collection" or "BAC`s Payment". Genuine buyers wont mind, the others?, well I`m not bothered. I no longer offer postage. Just if you want it, send a carrier collection, after cleared funds, I will pack it.

And paypal-they have it covered! I wanted to view something a while back and seller agreed -but he couldn't give me his location as he said E-bay wouldn't let him -he was not pleased.
I'm selling my camper and have given my phone number to 3 folk

I don't know why but sometimes ebay will let me send my phone number other times it asks me to remove it or I can't send the message. My way around it is to spell some of the numbers in my phone number.

I used to take pictures of the goods with my plumbing van in the background (Tel number on side) , that worked for me , quite often got a sale outside eBay
