I have decided life is to short not to have a bike in my garage so have been looking on eBay for a secondhand bmw gs but these 2 have popped up , I don’t understand the bidding it’s gone mad just look at the prices . Is this a scam and people have realised this and are just bidding for a laugh to wind the scammer up? .

Had to have a look, I like the way they are asking you to contact off Ebay, and putting their email address in a photo to avoid the Ebay controls.

So do you think this all a big scam ?

I love it if the BMW enthusiasts are getting one over on the scammers. Keep up the good work I say

Got to be a scam.

It's a total scam, the same seller has lots of bikes listed, all ending at the same time

I think, through boredom, there are people playing around with bidding - the GS has a buy it now of 6 grand

For the same reason I was watching this on the handh auction site

It originally popped up with no reserve and when you look at the details its basically a barn find and they're not even saying if it runs. It went for £7500

The very next lot was this

This was ex BMW press fleet and in outstanding order with extensive service history. It went for £8000. Its truly nuts.

Here's a link to the rest if anyones interested. Several Vincents that went for £30k+

I think life's to short to ride BMWs - get yourself a proper motorbike?
What do you suggest Nasher , I have had Ducati 916 /996 /multistrada’s Honda blades rc30 rc45 sp1 sp2 Suzuki gsr 600/750 bmw gs 800/1150/1200 and many more than I can remember over 30 bikes over the years but with injuries that old age brings now find the gs is just right for me but I am open to suggestion. What do you call a proper bike ? ??

He will work it out in the end, when he tires of stiff wrists/necks and stopping for fuel at every second petrol station.

I've had my 2010 R1200GSA for eight years and done > 50k miles all over Britain and Europe and it has been faultless. It still gives me a grin and at the end of any ride I'm still looking for excuses to not get off. So yeah, for me, it's a 'proper motorbike'. Anyone that states that a bike isn't a proper motorbike because of the badge on the tank obviously doesn't know one end of a motorbike from the other.

You're right, I'm only 65 so I'm hoping for another 15 years on sports bikes

But as a long term biker, I would have put the same reply to any bike you were considering!! ?

A Guzzi with pert tits rather than the droopy BMW ones.

Absolutely brilliant - love it, definitely gonna use that answer to any other BMW aficionados in future - thank you

AARGH!!!!!

On this we can agree.(y)

Ok how many HD’s you had? I’ve had Hondas, Kawasaki’s Well tricked up Honda Fireblade Racebike, 3 BMW’s (2 GS’s which made my hands go numb and 1 RT1200) and about 15 HD’s and that red HD is hands down better in every way?

Oh and I’ve crashed Jamie Whithams GSXR750 (WSB 3rd place at Monza 1998 I think) back in 2000 at Knockhill:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

The late, great Cal Rayborn's iron barrelled road race bike is the only Harley for me - only in memory of an amazing rider

WTF did you get rid of the RC30, RC45 and SP2 for? They’re worth a fortune now, you tool?????

Why? Just asking ?

KEV

Cos part of being a biker is ragging everyone about whatever bike they have - it's just the way it is - no harm is meant

I've got mates younger than me, who cannot ride any motorbikes, so they ride large scooters (they don't need to get their leg over them - so easier to get on). The main thing is, they're still on 2 wheels & that's a good thing

what he said Kev, it’s just friendly banter, you’re not a proper biker till you’ve slagged off a Harley Davidson without owning one, or in some cases even riding one!!
I’ve got broad shoulders tho Kev and I don’t need the deep heat on my back when I get off the HD?????

I know that now but at the time they where just another bike , yes an expensive one but they where only as fast as the blades and the 750 Suzuki I rode around with and yes I had more money than sense ? if I had my time again I would have kept them and probably have a N&B motorhome now . The Sp1 and sp2 where worth every penny by the way .

As I've posted many times before, I've spent all my money on women and motorbikes, the rest I've just frittered away

Every bike I've owned has been absolutely brilliant, right up until the day I sold it

Recently purchased a new Gixer thou R - I can't believe how good it is, but in a couple of years time the manufacturers would have improved them, so you just have to have a new one.....

That said, I've also got a couple of classic race bikes (one restored, one in final assembly) and what I consider to be my Harley: a Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 - which I use to go to biker cafes and plod around the lanes (they claim it has 32bhp, but I reckon they measure it at the spark plug!)
