We are planning to cross from Italy into France using the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Our intention is to go to Trier and then on to Luxemburg and finally home.
Has anyone done this journey and if so could they please give me advice on a route and possible aires stops.
I know that I could cross over to Germany further south but this is an area of France that is new to us and we would like to see.

You don't need to plan. Every bit of that area is stunning. Just go with the flow.
