So, having finally had a towbar fitted to the motorhome, and the little C1 is booked in to get an A-frame fitted, the problem has now arisen of what to do with the e-bikes.

My initial thought was to fit roof bars to the car but all options I’ve looked at say the bars aren’t suitable for e-bikes, presumably because of the weight? The smaller bike is 15kg without battery, the larger 18kg.

How do others manage?

Now a little one
We have folding ebikes and put the toad rear seats down and the two bikes fit in neatly. Toad is a Peugeot 108.

If we decide to tow the Aygo then I don’t take the electric bikes. We alternatively use fold up brompton bikes which can be easily transported in the Aygo. It is possible to use the A Frame with the eBikes on the rear bike rack, but it‘s more of a faff to unhook both car and bikes.

Just be careful of tight bends. You might need to check it on a car park before saying it will work for sure.

Most e-bikes weigh 20 to 25 kg, yours are no heaver that a lot of cheap standard push bikes so should be OK on a roof rack type.

I have owned a lot of roof racks. Most specify a 70KG max load. So the two bikes should be fine. Thule are my recommended brand, never let me down.

I bought these-

They have the added advantage of reducing your wight further as you need to remove the front wheels.
Also, from a security point of view who wants to steal two unicycles?

I keep the front wheels in the motorhome separate from the bikes.

All you have to do is lift a dead weight of 20kg plus from low down to above shoulder height, with arms out to the front. Can foresee muscle strain & slipped discs  Hmmmm. :whatthe::unsure:. We took our Fiamma rack off the back of the van for that very reason & got a tow bar mounted one as so much lower.

Buy a towbar rack which fits between bar and ball....the A frame will only have a few kilos nose weight so will have very little affect on the overall weight.
If you have a Swan neck towbar you're stuffed though.
