We have just bought an e bike off a chap on here, but he is Devon and we are in County Durham, anyone ever used a courier for a bike.

If he goes to a local bike shop they will probably let him have one of the boxes that their new bikes arrive in.
Just remove the few bits to fit it into box then try parcels2go for best courier.
Worst case scenario Parcel Force will take it as I did one last year.
