I'm waying up the pros and cons of converting existing bikes to electrickery or buying ready made jobbies.

A few weeks back someone posted a recommendation for a rear wheel Kit on fleabay that I believe came from Austria but I can't find the thread. Any advice for a kit to look out for will be appreciated.

Yes, thank you
Done one dead easy you will need a crank puller if you have a sealed bottom bracket and make sure there is room for the sensor behind the chainwheel

That would be for a mid drive, not sure if I want that or rear wheel. There is information overload on tinternet.

Both Kevin and James have done their bikes. James has front wheel and Kevin rear wheel. Both are really really pleased. Dont get anything lower than 36volt battery.

Kevin used Yose and we were pleasantly surprised at the quickness and quality.

James used a more expensive place last year. There is not much diffrence between the two except for a couple of hundred quid

We have front wheel kits as we have 8 speed rear hub gearbox. One good thing on wet grass or mud is you have two wheel drive. I like the idea of the more expensive drive that fits into the pedal crank, Bafang is a major seller.
Just make sure you do not exceed 250 watt, check out the DVLA website about electric bikes.

Nope....you need to take the crank off to fit the crank sensor with some kits. That's the sensor that sees you peddling and then adds the assistance. Some other kits have a sensor that is in two parts held together with a metal snap ring. You don't need to remove the peddle for these. If you need a crank puller they usually come in the kit.

Sorry Dane just seen this. We got a kit that included the battery. It was around £320 plus £20 post and packing. It was delivered by DPD.

I would rather get the complete kit but Yose power do not have a lot of stock at the moment. Need to check both bikes wheel sizes, one is 700c, I think the other is the same.

I have a Cube hardtrail mountain bike which i bought a rear wheel drive hub kit for from Woosh bikes. good service with lots of tech help if you need it.
took about 5 hours to strip and fit. Kit was under £500. the equivalent ready made is well over £2k.

As Diablo says information overload on the Inet, all these kits seem to add up to best part of £500 plus your old bike. So hence nice new leccy bits but in my case still a 25 year old bike.

I've been looking at my local Decathlon in Lorient.

https://www.decathlon.fr/p/velo-de-...-e-a-cadre-bas/_/R-p-100394?mc=8379379&c=NOIR

Is a brand new bike for €699
It is, however, a very basic bike with a fairly cheap electric kit. An older bike fully refurbished + your choice of kit is still a better bet.
