With all the reported problems with the DVLA !How long does it take to remove a cherished number and put on retention.I want to sell my motorhome but want to remove my number off it before it hopefully sells!I put the number on when I bought the vehicle 13 years ago and hoping that it can go back to its original regs as I still have the platesšŸ˜

Normally done istantantly online, don't wait for the paperwork just order a set of plates for the new number on eBay.

Edit:
Just saw you have the plates.

camping and caravanning since a kid. New to motorhomes
As others have said. Do it online and itā€™s instant.
Very rare that the original registration number is not restored.
Did it recently for an SLK I am selling and the V5 took 3 days to arrive.

You get the retention document in a few days

Also, when going through the online process, you get the reference number for your cherished number so you could assign it to another vehicle immediately,
Provided you have the V5 in your name.
