sent off my forms for renewal of ce licence, failed the medical on high blood pressure.
been to doctors and they will only do something after 3 readings.
got my 3rd reading booked for next month.
new licence sent to me today, only has be on it, c1/d1 not on.
spoke to them and its because i failed the medical.
tried to tell them that i did not need one until i was 70 years old.
no they said, you failed so cant drive.
cant even drive the works van as it has 10 seats, what a cock-up system they use.

Yep, you never even took a test for C1/D1 but up to this point you've been deemed safe to drive by the very people that have now said not..
If you didnt have a CE you would have kept your C1 until 70.....high BP or not.

Well tbf, if you fail (not just you but anyone) fails the medical on any grounds, why should they be allowed to drive?
Plus, if you failed, why send it in?
My mate, only 55 has HBP and where he normally takes his tablet at night, he doubled up the day before and one first thing in the morning and he passed. Is it worth trying another doctor or possibly D4Drivers?

a pass is anything below 180, mine was 181.
that was with doctors on wheels, he wouldn't right 180 for me.
can't get tablets until ive done 3 checks with doctor. then the doctor told me its no ploblen to get it down below 180.
so its a matter of waiting for the tablets to work when i get them.
had to send it as dvla ,the medical side, said if i wanted to drive to send asap.

Can I ask what your blood pressure was that caused the fail. I have high blood pressure 145/95 and thats with taking the pills, not 70 for 2½ years but have a 4.5t van.

That is completely stupid....
The doctor is quite happy to risk your health until your BP has been checked three times......at the risk of heart attack and stroke.

My doc prescribed BP Meds after checking mine twice on the same day...180/102....first with the nurse at my annual check-up, then that afternoon with the GP.
NOW 130/75.

thats how i got my psv licence too,lol
grandfather rights were a good thing in them days.
Your must have requested keeping it in 1997.
Mine disappeared automatically at next address change on licence.
You had to request the retention of categories or lose them.

Tbf unless you are only 45, you'd have taken a medical every 5 years up to 65, then annually. The grandfather rights only apply to the category NOT by passing medicals. You'd have had to complete the relevant forms to allow you to keep your vocational licences and PASS medicals.

The list of DVLA notifiable illnesses is horrendous.
The vast majority of drivers won't even know you must tell DVLA If any apply

https://www.gov.uk/health-conditions-and-driving
Not quite as bad as it sounds as you only have to inform them if it affects your driving and each link in the list gives further information.
At least I was able to find out the Blood Pressure requirements (max 180/100) - Thanks.

The list of illness that you have to inform them about is frightening. I have to inform them about my sleep apnea. I looked at the list of notifiable illnessness and medications that could case you to loose your licence. It would surprise you. Being an alcoholic is one that takes your licence away.

It appears to be a list of all & every disease/illness known ,probably just to cover them from any criticisms.

Not alot of use if you don't eat it or any seafood.

Strange you should say that. I am "monitoring" at the moment, as the Doc has just changed my "pills". Before I walked the Dog at about 8-30, it was 186/91, after I came back and had Breakfast it is Now 166/89. So there could be something in it?.
