Just spent a beautiful night on the Beach at Links Portsoy, picked up some water and heading for Durness. Anyone got any suggestions for a Wild spot either with a Loch or Sea view?

Cheers

there are loads of places and quite a few miles from where you are to Durness

whenever we go to Durness we stay at Sango Sands, if the site is closed and it might already be, they never close the gates and allow overnighting for free (y) the site owner also owns the pub and maybe hopes for food orders, but not pressure for that, if you want electrics he charges for that but only £5 even in deep winter, if not too cold he even leaves the water taps open :)(y)

there are not as many wild options on the north coast as the west coast, but if you don't mind being beside the road there are plenty of spots to stop with awesome views (y)

just checked for opening times, they have a new web site, slightly revised winter options, but £4 night with water and dump options is good enough for me

There is a C&MC CL just round the corner at 94 Laid which we have used and is open all year with hardstanding & EHU at
58°29'26.3"N 4°43'25.0"W 58.490629, -4.723597

but if you are wanting wilding then there is a pull in further round the loch at 8°27'24.9"N 4°43'32.7"W58.456917, -4.725738 which may be a possibility?

It looks as though it may slope a little but is on the end of the loch with good views.

I think there may have been a MH parked / Overnighting there the last time we passed?

Just looked again on Google street view and there is another layby near the fish farm on the A838 at
58°28'56.6"N 4°40'13.1"W 58.482390, -4.670303

Morning everyone,

Thank you all for your swift suggestions, @namwaldog your reply was brilliant, we would've stopped at either of those two but our internet connection up there was dodgy to say the least and we didn't pick up the post until after we'd pitched :giggle:

@DavidG58 we ended up at Sango Sands on pitch 22, as far right as you can go, it was proper windy that night and the Sea gave us a fantastic display dancing and leaping against and between the rock islands (n)

We then headed south to Invergarry, pulled up at a wild spot I know of from Canoeing on the river Garry and someone was already in residence, we took Bannock for a walk and happened upon a little gem hidden just around the corner, spent a quiet, windless, sub-zero evening here. Didn't see a soul between 17:00 and 09:00 in the morning.

And I'll include one of us pulled up at Portsoy, just for you, what a fantastic site.

We're back home now and I'm about to rush out the door to work...

Cheers
Red, Bannock and Chris
