David even if we dont do a walk the pub idea is still on , my plan would be to meet in The Globe Inn known as Burns Howff for a few pints afterwards. This is where Burns sat and wrote some of his poems and I believe his chair is still there.
As for buses into town I think its around the £1.70 ew or £3.80 for a full day which might be an option for the Sat, last bus back is 23.40. If you go down the Taxi route it will cost roughly £5-6 for 4 folk. I rarely use taxi's but I'm sure a couple of the local firms have minibuses so can always look into that nearer the time.

An event that would nowadays probably be classed as a "crime of passion" The judge, when summoned from Edinburgh, thought it might be prudent to have the gallows sent down to Dumfries "just in case" sounds like he'd already made his mind up, a sad and tragic case for all concerned.

We will be allowed some access on the Thursday just waiting for confirmation of how many, I would assume it to be minimal though.

As posted a bit earlier in the thread the museum are looking to have everything tied up by February, for that reason could I ask that the few folk still on the to pay list let me know if their still interested. I know @davejen was having issues and was going to pay next time he was in town but could do with a reply of some sort from the rest of you.

I know we have loads of time before the meet but i need to have things organised well in advance due to family holiday just before the rally.

I never asked about dogs but I cant see any reason why not, once I have given everyone time to reply I will ask the question before we confirm anything.

I haven't done the walks but I know the two main graveyards they use and both have steps at the front but accessible entrance to the side/rear. Again I'm just trying to get a feel for numbers just now and will aks any questions before confirming anything.

Additional dog sitter here as well - or can look after small children but children are expected to play games suitable to their ages (they can bring their own)
