Met with the Aviation museum today and we have been given the go ahead, just some small details to sort with them.

As this is the first Rally I have organised I would appreciate it if another couple of Funsters would offer their help to marshal.

The rally will be held at the Dumfries Aviation Museum and over Dumfries Guid Nychburris weekend, the town holds events all week with the main events being on the Saturday.

The Rally will be held at Dumfries Aviation Museum which sits about 3 miles from Dumfries town center, we will be provided with tap for fresh water, either the use of their own waste tanks or a separate one which they will supply for our sole use. They will also give us use of a room for socialising when the Museum closes at 4pm, the room is the size of a large classroom 10m x 6m roughly. We would also have room to put up some event shelters if people have these.

The museum sits on an old WW2 airfield and although its only minutes from shops and public transport its very secluded and safe, you have several options for getting into town to watch the festivities, bus stop within 15min walk with a regular service, you can cycle a long a fairly flat cycle path right into town will take about 20 mins, or if 3 or 4 are going to town a taxi would be around £6 roughly same as 4 on bus.

I will post links for Guid Nychburris once they have released the timetable of events, the ride outs start about 7.30 am and the crowning of the queen happens around 12.30pm and the final parade around 17.30pm.

Children are more than welcome as are dogs, about 300meters from the gate is Heathhall forest with loads of flat trails for walking.

Although the rally will run from the Friday to the Monday we will have access on the Thursday night for setting up, I will see if we can have access for folk staying on the Thursday also if t suits.

We have still to confirm the price as they're waiting on WC in fields giving them a price for supplying a waste tank, I can assure you the prices he's talking this won't be an expensive meet and anyone who puts their name down and isn't happy when I confirm the price next week will be free to withdraw. Once cost is confirmed I will be asking for a small deposit.

We will also have free unlimited access to the museum.

I haven't worked out final activities for the rally but like most fun rallies it will be relaxed and up to the individual how much or little they join in.

Thursday 14/6/18 to be confirmed
Friday 15/6/18
Arrival from 9am
Few options on the back burner
History tour/walk of Dumfries, if enough interest I could try and arrange this with local guide
Relaxed tour by myself of Robert Burns House, colosseum, and the pub he wrote his poems from.
Few beers and relaxed get together in room/events shelter

Saturday 16/6/18
Information will be supplied of events happening and where so daytime would be up to the individual on what they want to see or do.
Meet back at the room/shelter after the parade finishes, which is roughly 7pm for quiz/bingo and some refreshments.

Sunday 17/6/18
As we're in an aviation museum I thought we'd have a model plane competition, this can be made from paper cardboard or any other material, a staff member will judge it and donate a prize to the winner. (just a bit of fun nothing to serious)

Sunday evening meet up in the room/shelter for drinks and snacks supplied by everyone.

Below is a list of everyone who has shown an interest in the meet please confirm if your still interested before I start taking other names.

Wow didn't realised we had so many interested, we said it would fit roughly 40 vans, so wont be a problem if everyone on list still wants a place. If your no longer available could you please let me know and I'll remove your name.

I will start a reserve list for anyone who is interested in attending

@lorger this looks a great meet and you look to have really worked hard and I wish you every xuccess, but be aware, froom experience 40 plus mhs on a list does not necessarily mean 40 will show up. Unless your agreement with the museum is to pay only for the mhs who turn up I would advise you to ask for payment in advance which is non refundable. You don't want to be left having to pay out of your own pocket for a bunch of no shows.
Sadly we shall be away otherwise we would have come and gladly marshalled for you.
