I’m looking for some help.
Recently polished the van using Auto Glym polish. Came up a treat apart from the bonnet which has been left dull.
Not sure why this has occurred but I can’t seem to buff it up!
Any advise on how to fix this? Thanks

Thanks both.
I’m guessing T-Cut will strip the polish off and then I can clean and re polish??

many many years! since I was a kid
back around 2015 there was a well documented batch of vans with faulty paint. One of the cheap quick fixes was to put a layer of vinyl wrap on the bonnet. You can detect this by looking at the edges of the bonnet or just underneath for an edge

the proper fix is to sand down and repaint

If it’s really bad you could try a bonnet bra?
they look pretty good & protect from stones etc.

When I saw the thread title "Dull Bonnet" I thought it was some kind of Jane Austen gripe.

Try a search on eBay. I got ours from a German company. It’s fully fitted & clips underneath. Appears to be waterproof & has a soft felt backing. Obviously treat any rust before fitting.
Ours is a 2003 ducato & fits well. If yours is the same make sure to request one without nipple holes for the washers. Best way is to remove existing washers fit bra then cut holes & refit washers.
Our bonnet was scratched & chipped by stones etc & looked pretty grotty.

i will tell you a trade secret get a tin off brasso with a nice smooth cloth or a buff its hard work buy hand but let the brasso cut the paint back when shiney give a good polish i have used it for years it wont harm your paint just takes the bloom of .cheers bernard ps 10times better than tcut .
Thanks for that I’ll give it a go next time I give it a clean. I don’t understand how the rest of the van came up like a new pin after polishing but the bonnet was dull! Hey ho! Thanks again👍

That looks to me like it's a brand new bonnet that has been fitted and not painted 😁
No offence 😊

I would clay bar it first, use a light polish such as Meguiars,do a small section at a time,,it will take some elbow grease but worth it,, then apply a good wax,,I have noticed that some funsters recommendation T Cut which is fine, but quite abrasive and can affect your top coat,,bearing this in mind, always finish with a good wax,,as polish, is a totally different thing and leaves no protection on your paint.

Ps, if you know someone who has a DA polisher, you’ll do the whole bonnet in half an hour.
