The design is basically floored, the seal expands and diesel leaks out, so do you under tighten it and the seal is not held in position, do you over tighten it so the seal is squeezed out or do you correctly torque it and wait for the ticking time bomb to pop again

the term 'polishing a turd' comes to mind

Update:- having now got a new element (with O ring) and having fitted it. Can anyone advise just what the Torque figure is for the correct tension?.

BTW I was correct about the O ring being suspect:- Pictures of NEW one:-

The O ring being a much neater fit!.
