Ducato whistling engine noise (1 Viewer)

My Moho is on a Ducato Euro 6 150 go. base. It’s only 6 months old with 4000 miles. The engine has developed a high pitched whistling noise which changes pitch with engine noise. I am in Spain at present so a little concerned about taking it to a dealer. There is no discernible fall off in performance. Someone on another forum has suggested it could be the idler bearing on the auxiliary belt tensioner. Is this a serious problem? Any advice would be most welcome.

Find a Fiat dealer. It is under gtee so wouldn't be a problem. Where abouts are you ?

Nothing wrong with Spanish dealers.
Most go out of there way for customers. IMO.

Midway between Valencia and Alicante. Interestingly, I’ve just driven 80km and haven’t heard a squeak!

Sounds a bit like a leak on turbo inlet pipe; would think that's more likely on a new van especially if it disappears occasionally. Probably just need clip adjusting/tightening up - simple job but I've no idea where it is mind!

Good Fiat service agent should solve it in seconds!

I can recommend the Fiat Professional dealer in Denia, on the right hand side of the dual carriageway from the motorway to the town. Sorted me out without hassle on a couple of occasions.

Sounds Like a turbo issue to me? I had a very high pitch whistle caused by a pin hole in my exhaust down pipe...

Couple of years ago ours developed a whistle (3ltr 180)varying pitches and coming and going.Had it checked out by FIAT and no fault found!!
Travelling through France started again ....... it was infact feed back through the speakers from the sat nav plugged in to stereo aux point !!!!
Now sorted and whistle gone
