Carado 459 Clever+
Hi all, TIA. We recently bought a new Carado 459 Clever + Edition. Loving it by the way. Unfortunately on our first outing our remote flip ignition key took a dip in the sea and suffered a failure. Doesn't work anymore. Luckily we had an additional central locking device that allowed us entry to use the spare . Seems, to get a replacement means ordering from the Fiat factory and paying an extortionate fee to get replaced. So far we have been quoted £320 for a remote key , reprogramming and synchronising service? This seems absurd to me . Does anyone know of a company that can supply and programme a key for a reasonable price? I realise the fault was my own to assume that all ignition keys with electronics would be waterproof. Yes assumptions are the mother of all mistakes and lesson learnt now. Appreciate your help .

I've tried. Ours is 2020 and i was told the software isn't available yet for non main dealers to create a spare, even though the remotes look identical.

I tried a lot of locksmiths who advertised and none could be bothered. Only 1 out of 7 bothered to take the time to explain why.

many many years! since I was a kid
I use a local specialist and last additional remote key supplied, cut and coded was under £80. That is in the Bournemouth area

Avoid the shoe repair/key cutters if you can, as I have heard horror stories about their cloned keys causing major problems
