Hi all,

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells aftermarket push button dash switches with different pictures on? Our Fiat base has the flat square type. I'm used to finding things like that for Land Rovers, but I've not found anything for the Ducato.

Failing that, does anyone know of a genuine switch that's a simple push on, push off affair? I could always sort the decal afterwards. I did try looking for part numbers, but Eper seems permanently broken, and fiatdalys doesn't have any part numbers for the flat square switches (only the round ones).

Reason for asking is that I'd like to fit a switched relay to control power to the cigar lighter (now a USB-A/C charger) and stereo. At the moment both are permanently on - and the USB charger has a voltage display that's quite bright. Switched relay so we can use them even when stationary, but not kept awake with bright lights shining down the van!

Many thanks!

Peter.

Here you can see the stereo and USB charger on, all glowing away. To the left of the hazard warning switch is a blank. I’d like to replace the blank with a matching push button switch that will trigger a relay to power on the devices. I’d also fit a second trigger from the ignition switch.

I‘m fine with the electrical side of thing, but I’d just like a switch. There used to be some that would work (interior light was one, I think) but they appear to be discontinued and no where sells them (and worse; the part numbers have been reused it seems).

SWITCH GEAR
They have old switches for Hazard and Fog lights etc.... then add your own label on top?
Nice find, good sir!

Delivery is 3 times the part cost, so I added a couple more switches in case one doesn’t work (all interior light ones, that you can’t get anymore). Let’s see how long this takes!

Many thanks.

Search for vehicle electric supplies. There are several UK specialists offering a huge range of switches, cable, relays, connectors, etc. One of them is Vehicle Wiring Products but there are several others.

Not strictly true , my 2001 Fiat based hymer has had part of the dash replaced at some time and the switches on the left of steering wheel (LHD) are round and the ones in the middle above heater controls are square.
I needed to fit a switch for controlling usb socket so I drill out one of the round blanks and fitted a simple rocker switch.

Eper lists both round and square switches for my VIN, though only square are fitted. Maybe some have been replaced during its life? I guess they’re interchangeable.

Edit: Here’s the left of our dash (LHD):

On mine the whole trim part was changed because the wood effect is slightly different.
Have you got on ePer recently because I’ve been trying and failed.

This are the two type of switches on mine, I’ve put a round one for usb and the oblong one powers the radio without ignition on.

Recently replaced the hazard switch, so that’s all good. Don’t want two as I’m sure that would fail an MOT! 🤣

Re. the front fog light switch; check my dash pic above and you’ll see the front fog switch is the same as the rear one, just upside down! 🤪. Both latch. I know the rear fog on more modern vehicles is momentary, but not so on older ones. Not sure when that law came in; I have a ‘97 Defender that is latch, and an ‘01 that is momentary. #shrug

Edit: suggest the change to the Defender rear fog switch occurred at the same time as the switch from the 300TDI to the TD5: 1998. So the law could’ve been anytime around that, give or take a few years. Still #shrug

The previous sticking hazard switch has been a minor issue on the previous MOT, so I thought it best to change it!
Not at all! But I was hoping for something black and with a few less connections on the back! Goodness knows what all the terminals are for, though I do know there’s a light in there.

I have three, square interior lights on the way that look as though they’ll do the job nicely. Just need to sort the relays, now...
