I have a standard 2008 130hp Ducato, with the standard 6 speed gearbox.
The box is a rebuilt version after my diff gears broke about 5 years ago.
The shift quality has never been that great.
Yes, I know its a commercial vehicle and all that but my shift has always been notchy and slow.
The synchromesh is weak on the 3 to 4th upshift but Ok on all other gear pairs.
I have lubricated the cable ends and couplings at the gearbox end with no real improvement.
I have changed the gearbox oil to Redline and of course ensured the correct fill volume of 2.9 Ltrs has been put in , no real improvement.
Thinking of relubricating the interlock under the shifter in the dash.
1) Can anyone advise on the correct grease for this?
2) Can anyone advise on cable wear? Can the inner wear through the outer and reduce the shift quality?
Yes, it all works but it's not very satisfying and I'm an ex transmissions development engineer , so maybe my standards are too high
TIA
