Hi top Ducato
Exp
2 years
So, reregistering our French van in the UK - the saga continue. A couple of silly questions but I want to get this right as it's already taken nearly 2 months to get the individual vehicle approval form back from Bristol. Could someone maybe double check their V5 and Ducato engine bay and confirm for me that the engine number shown on their V5 matches the number shown after “motore” on the plate at the front of the engine bay? The French “carte grise“ doesn't record the engine number but I need it for the UK V5 application.

Also, what is the the “official” description for the V5 ( “high top camper van” or ??) and correct tax code class for a 5.4m Burstner Ducato van conversion (CityCar 540 model)

And also (last question- promise!) as it was first registered in France in 2018 but won’t be registered here until I get this damn form sent off i.e. 2021, I presume the road tax regime applicable will be the current one ?

Thanks - going to try and speak to the DVLA today but thought I would tap into your wisdom too!

This from a 2012 and was correct on the V5 although its usually the long number starting ZFA 250000

At a guess your engine (motore on the plate) number is F1AGL411D
Ignore that, that's the engine type code

Vehicle type should be 'motor caravan'

As for the vehicle status.
If it has a kitchen and a toilet compartment, describe it as a "Motor caravan. DVLA have been somewhat reticent to describe them thus recently but that is what it is.
DVLA have started to insist that it is a, " Van with windows"

I looked at my V5 and item P5, which is the Engine Number, says "NOT KNOWN"

The number starting ZFA is the VIN Number, which applies to the chassis not the engine. That is recorded correctly on my V5.

The engine number on my 2011 manufacture is on a sticker on the plastic engine cover along with a bar code, conveniently facing the wrong way but is the last 7 numbers of the long sequence.
I had this confirmed by Fiat.

Thanks for the swift responses. Couple of things...
Yes, the number starting ZFA is indeed the VIN/chassis number...although our van is definitely French specced. and supplied, its number starts ZFA too so it can’t be UK specific.
Stealaway, the “engine number” on your V5 is the same as the number on my maker’s plate so agree with Papajohn that must be the type number not the individual one - maybe that's the number after ”versione”? Still, if DVLA are happy with the first one?
And am I right in thinking the tax class is TC11 and the tax is £270 a year??
DVLA phone system was impossible to get through on so struggling a bit ...

Have you looked for a sticker on the engine cover, that number has been accepted by the IMT in Portugal along with a covering letter from Fiat Professional linking the VIN number and engine number.
